Thoughts on today's game...

Well, what a cracking day out and a thoroughly-deserved three points. Played some good stuff at times and, again, created enough chances to have won comfortably. At the other end, Dartford rarely threatened, mainly due to the superb displays of Parkinson and Young in the middle of the defence; they really played like heroes today. Again, Butcher had a superb game in goal, really dominating his area and his quick distribution was the focal point of many of our attacks.

Midfield were solid, most notably Smudger, who really did control the tempo of the game at times. Wilson, Stubbs and Gregs all had fair games and, credit to Gregs, he took his goal extremely well (not sure about the celebration though!). Up top, Power seems to be getting better all the time for me, and he really showed his ability with the ball at his feet today. Won us so many invaluable free-kicks. And Kenny again worked so hard (his pressing led to the goal), without getting the goal his workrate probably deserved. Shame to see him come off with a knock.

Overall, a fantastic team performance and a great result up there. Good turnout from the fans too, and nice to see us leapfrog above a few teams, including that one....er...what's their name? Oh yeah, Ramsgate smile

Well i suppose i better write up a more in depth summary. We really could have scored more today, but that doesn't matter the fact we got 3 points today is good enough and we thoroughly deserved all points today. We battled extremely well from start to finish and defensively we were fantastic. I don't think anyone really stood out today, because it was such a fantastic team performance.

There is definate improvement in the team since the last time i watched them agains Hornchurch and now i am not worried at all and we played for the whole 90 minutes which was brilliant, we looked like scoring again towards the end more then what Dartford did, it wasn't evident that Dartford were the home side at all and i think the credit has to go to our players for that.

I think the stadium look very nice, but the roof is way too high and the terracing isn't deep enough to get a good atmosphere going, but that aside i thought the choir did very well. The hot dog was a joy to behold aswell, they were that good i dropped the first one.

Anyway well done blues on a great performane and i great win, i can't wait until i watch them again.

UP THE GATE!!!!!

Great day it is for away days like that, that going to watch THE MIGHTY GATE makes putting up with the off field shananingans worthwhile.

The highlights today were.

1) Talking to Rob before the game and finding out that there is still a soft spot fot THE MIGHTY GATE.

2)Gregs goal. (not his celebraton see below).

3) The effort of all the 16 players today.

4) Kicking Alexs hot dog on the pitch.

5) Getting Colin Page to pay any fine Gregs may incur for his goal celebration.

The Low points today.

1) Gregs goal celebration should be fined for it (well Skins would have insisted on it).

2) Health & Safety codswallop and there petty minded officials.

3) Seeing Rob in white instead of Blue.

Still smiling grin

And Oh as MM is not on here yet he must be having a double double orgasm. brille008

Absolutely Joseba.

There's dancing in the streets of Gloucester tonight

Would one of the 'differences' in todays performance be -and that we did not concede late on-that PaulSmith was out there for 90 minutes.

Did he still loook fit after 90 minutes ,as it seems we need him to do that every week ?

well done Margate

Yeh, real achievement, fair play Rams, losing a two-goal lead at home to 10 men is certainly a feat....

Just like conceding three goals in five minutes against Tonbridge. Anyone remember how we did against them? Oh, that's right, they couldn't beat (or even score against) us.

It's time for the Rams to sit up and take notice. Get used to being in the bottom six (or whatever it is); after Tuesday, and another fruitless home game for you, subsequently followed by a defeat, you'll be a point behind the mighty Gate, and we'll have two games in hand.

After yesterday's performance, and 7 points from the last 4 games, I'm convinced we've turned a corner. Despite the pre-season expectations, I think there's now more chance of Ramsgate being relegated than us.

It looks to me as though Ramsgate are starting to assemble a reasonable side-like us -late in the day-and they similarly will need to gel.

I do not think Ramsgate are in any danger of relegation-mid table for them.

For us-one swallow does not make a summer-but again-great result yesterday-we should avoid relegation.

I want both sides to remain in this league-good for both clubs-and for me (easier to avoid the bragging rights as i am not local )it does not matter who is above who-as long as we avoid relegation AND SURVIVE AS A CLUB.

Next season-well maybe different story-we need to be top half in 2009/10;and by then have an infrastructure in place for our promotion year in 2010/11.

No I do not believe Ramsgate will get relegated either. My point, MM, was that if one of the Thanet clubs were to get relegated, I believe it would be the red side who would be on the end of it.

My positives are not purely based on yesterday; I have seen most games this season and, over the past few games, there has been a marked improvement. For the first team in a long time, I have supreme confidence in our defence and 'keeper, and I feel the players do. This seems to have filtered through the team and we are just generally playing much better. I'm confident of survival this year.
