Iaian, Rob, Iaian.

Shame about that. A confidante told me that the Yoof should win (before either of us knew the score), but it depended on Turkey (the above) and Seeby playing well. I wonder what went wong, or what happened?

The Caretaker?

Good grief, you're right, I've never seen Ian spelt like that before.

Anyway, here's a few words from match correspondent Charlie Farnsbarnes, no doubt there will be more later...

Aylesbury went into a 2 goal lead in the first half, both goals coming from Matran. City pulled one back through Turkentine just before half time. Despite continual pressure in the second half, City were unable to penetrate a very strong Aylesbury defence. Overall, a very evenly contested match with Maycock outstanding in the City defence.

GHA

We started well but failed with at least 5 half chances from corners etc. Conceeded a sloppy goal and then a slice of bad luck when a rebound fell to their striker to finish. Lads picked themselves up and Turky (yes it is Iaian, welsh origin I believe) lashed home from yet another corner. Half time 2-1 down.

Pressed for most of second half but they defended well and had all the breaks going, crosses deflected to defender, cross hits crossbar drops to keeper, hit post, penalty appeal turned down etc. and one or two very strange decisions from the ref but in fairness we didn't really create a good chance despite having 75 % of play. One or two key players tried a bit too much and others despite giving 110% effort lacked a little bit of quality when it mattered (no names from me).

Anyway this was their third major final in 3 seasons, and for most their last at this level, not a bad record. With playing reserve football as well this season I think it time for a good rest, recharge the batteries and come back next season to push on to the next level.

See you later <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
