Last nights meeting

I too did not attend the meeting due to the fact I am on holiday this week and didn't get on the computer until yesterday so was completely unaware of this. I was actually at the game on Tuesday night and so am surprised it wasn't mentioned then as quite a few Margate fans were there.

As for not being a true supporter, sponsoring games, doing the posters, sorting drinks for the away side and officials, attending most of home games and reserve matches, paying out lottery for my family and I, yes I guess you can call me not a true supporter wink

I think it is a shame when anyone feels the need to come on here and explain why they were not at a meeting, especially those people who do so much throughout the rest of the year.

As one who has spent the best part of the last 30 years involved in organising meetings I know that it is not at all easy, particularly with all of the competition such as TV/eateries/pubs/apathy etc, to get anyone to attend. Not to mention the fact that people do have to go to work. At times it is tantamount to trying to hit a bull's eye on a dartboard whilst standing on a turntable revolving at 78rpm!

From my own experience I found that it is better to make the meeting a) a regular event so that people always know that it is taking place at a given time and B) not calling it a meeting but a surgery or something and making it attractive (not just with a bar). MAKE IT AN EVENT.

Easier said than done I know but for what it's worth that is my thought.

The problem seems to be that it is either the people on the forum or Misa that are really the only one`s that know about the meetings so when the next one is on someone should inform Wellsie and he could put it out over the tanoy at say 2-3 home games so that eveyone gets the message and then hopefully more people will attend . Could be held if appropriate after a Saturday home game , but this is obviously on MISA being able to do it then . Up the Gate .

I am a member of MISA but whilst I do support the draws, meat raffle,50/50 and attend games I would not call myself an active member due to where I live.

Perhaps this should really be put before MISA, not just on here, but assuming that MISA have regular Committee Meetings why not have also a quarterly event, perhaps to take place after a Committee Meeting, to be used as a surgery and information evening, where interested parties can attend and be updated, make suggestions or whatever.

To make it easier for everyone re date, perhaps it could be on, say, the first Thursday (or whatever day suits) of the first month of each quarter (or whatever time suits) so as to make it easier for everyone to remember. Make it an event so that everyone knows if they go there on that date then there will be something happening, someone to discuss matters with.

These things take time to build up of course.

OK first of all Ramsgate boy I have nothing to say to you, stick with your own. I am glad that this has stimulated some passion because its been a long time coming. The purpose for the meeting was to channel ideas through MISA to raise money for MFC. I believe that there are many supporters who can contribute in initiatives to increase the funding for the Club. Yes the most important currently is the relationship with Gillingham and the new lottery, as mentioned earlier every participant provides 45pence each week including the close season so it is vital, but wouldn,t it have been nice to have had even 10% of an average gate present at the meeting.

Sorry if some felt insulted but of course many are not able to attend for all sorts of reasons, I know that but the turn out for whatever reason was very very poor and its a good job the local press wern't present as it would have been embarasing. MISA needs input from us and works very hard to support our club I just feel that more of us should be going the extra mile as well as attending games to help this club survive.

OK so the club has to survive we all know that but take a look at the att , we must be 4th or 5th in the att league so maybe we should be asking ourselves how clubs with 100-200 survive and are sitting above us with experienced club members playing for them . Maybe we should be looking at how they are surving and what they are doing to bring extra capital in . Up the Gate .
