Last nights meeting

Steve I'll have a chat with Leah later and ask what was discussed. However I know the turn out was disappointing with only roughly 15 people turning up including commitee members. From a personal point of view, Misa put alot of hard work into fund raising events and they are rarely supported by a big turn out. Take quiz nights for an example. Many of the people that attend are regulars. The last quiz night was well attended but there's always room for more. Its up to everyone to support these events not just the regulars!!!

Got to say having attended the meeting I was bitterly disappointed that so few were present those who call themselves true supporters, well where were you ? if it wasnt for the committee (and only half of them turned up)and a few lads who had been at the 5 a sides it would have been even less. GET USED TO IT BOYS AND GIRLS THIS CLUB IS GOING TO DIE AND WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BLAME THE BOARD FOR IT,

Thanks for that GT,i would still like to know just What was said and any ideas on this,as for the poor turn out,I am sure many TRUE SUPPORTERS like myself could not make this meeting as some of us have to work for a living, but the people that could not get there and want to help... STILL NEED TO KNOW.

This is Leah, MISA secretary on Paul's account.

The meeting was MISA's opportunity to explain to fans exactly what we have done to support the club. So far events that have been taking place, such as quizes, have had good results and do raise a minimal amount. The 'blues news' is also proving popular with money being taken from buisnesess in exchange for adverts. We also have a performance at the Theatre Royal with the Rocking Royals- your support is needed to make these things worthwhile so please make an extra effort to attend this evening on the 18th of this month.

MISA are also running a lottery which is slowly going outwards to the people of thanet- not just fans. This is definately proving very worthwhile with definate money going to the club. This can be done by direct debit at just over

It was evident from last nights meeting that the club could do much more to use their own Hartsdown facility. The place was empty apart from us few.Ideal venue for parties and small firms and organisations xmas dinners, could be run like the Pavillion do with a meal then disco, very few dates left for the pavillion so there is a market. It could also benefit from indoor games activities. The club needs a marketeer to do this, they have the facility which is the most expensive bit. Or lease it to someone else! Just a thought.

I really get hacked off with all this implication that you are not a true fan unless you go to the quiz night / rocking royals / attend MISA meetings etc. I have not done any of these for a multitude of reasons, which I don't have to justify on here. However, I know I am a true supporter, whether I capitalise the words or not. You can't shame people in to attending - you just make them feel like they can never be opart when the opportunity arises, for fear of being the new one aka the usually apathetic one.

I have been going to games for over 20 years (Exile excepted), and although I'm sure many of you have been going longer, you probably have seniority of age over me. Some of you may commit more time to club events and meetings - Maybe you are able to find more time. Maybe you support the club financially more than others - Did it occur to you this may be because you can, others cannot.

Every year I ask for cash for my birthday from my family. This is put towards my season ticket - The rest I find. I then spend

Relax ITH.

This sort of debate goes on at every club in the land.

The best definition i read of a true supporter-and it certainly applies to MFC-is :

'A masochist, who is prepared to be physically, mentally and emotionally tortured over a period of an 8 month season'.

(apologies for going off topic slightly)

The reasons I did not turn up for the meeting were 2 fold.

1) Some people do/have, put a lot of there spare time into helping the Club, which causes friction at both home and work. Due to the economic climate I am know working 2 hours a day extra and 7 days instead of my normal six, leaving little time for either my family or the club. This to just stand still.

2) I have not been on here for a few days (as above) so i had not seen the notice for the meeting. No doubt like certain other members of the Committee I was not official told of the event.

So Guernsey Tom, the other half that didn't turn up had reasons.
