Its been derelict for over a year now - Barratt have decided not to go ahead with the development in its current format as they realised they wouldn't be able to sell the number of flats built to make any money. But ignoring that, build another 34 floors of flats anyway...

Barratt Homes have planning permission for the land to build flats. The work hasn't started mainly because of the current economic situation, they won't be able to shift the flats because nobody is buying. It makes more sense to hang onto the land as an asset that would be sold off more easily having not had anything built on it.

Patman, about half of those new ones opposite the Tufail are up for renting.

 

No-one is buying.

They went for amazing money as well - quarter of a million squids for a flat overlooking a curry house, where if ya bent over to wash ya face in the bathroom basin, you would burn ya ar$e on the radiator, and the wardrobes HAD to have sliding doors as the wasnt enough room to have 'normally' hung doors...

 

All that and ONE car-park space!

 

No-one is buying, yet they want to build a 34 floor tower block?
