striker

I have watched most games at Hartsdown this season and it is o bvious to me and others that we need to try out a new striker. We have in the reserve squad a lad called Sam Cliffe. He plays for the reserves under 18s and represents Kent. whenever I have seen him he gives 100 per cent. he is not afraid to shoot at goal unlike some who are in the 1st team. Shorley it is time to try another option before we go so far adrift and it wont matter.

Lets not forget,Kenny Pratt has only just graduated from the reserves-is doing more than ok, and has played just 5 games.

I apppreciate we live in a world on instant gratification/instant results, but i do feel we need to be a little bit patient ;and the partnership of Power and KP seems fine to me.

I do agree we need a third striker to cover injuries/suspension etc;so maybe Joe Taylor or Sam Cliffe are that option.

MM I think Kenny is a hard worker, and always gives 100%, but he does need to be more selfish. There's no denying we lack a striker with a natural instinct to be in between the posts at the right time. From what I've seen Sam Cliff is very talented, and is IMO the next in line for a chance in the first team. But, is he that goal poacher?

I fail to see where Luke Coleman fits into the picture. Doesn't offer enough for me.

Agree with Porka and SSS here. As SSS says, how a big, strapping experienced centre-forward would add to our team! Just to hold the ball up, whilst waiting for the legs of the likes of Pratt, Stubbs, Wilson et al to support him.

And as Porka rightly points out, despite Pratt having many positives, he does need to be more selfish. Having said that, maybe with more games under his belt, his confidence will grow, and he will feel less afraid to have a dig. We do have to remember that only last season, he was in the reserves, with a string of injuries to his name; the jump to the first team is a big one.

As for the option of Taylor or Cliff, I can't comment on Cliff, but I would be reluctant to chuck another young centre-forward into the mix. Taylor looked lazy and out of his depth against Worthing; but certainly one for the future.

I think 'lazy' is a bit harsh.. 'lost' would be more appropriate - he didn't seem to know what his role in the team was. I'd agree he was certainly out of his depth, maybe another 18 months before he's ready.

Agree wholeheartedly, but I think it has been mentioned before our goals are NOT coming from the source you would expect them to, namely the strikers. If the position of striker is to SCORE goals and we quite frankly are not, then maybe BA should be given the funds to provide such a necessary/crucial player!!

Interesting that the likes of Graziloi can't get a look in at Dover (although still 6 months of season to go).

i always thought it was madness of Hess to sign him-not very fit and past his sell by date.

However, that is the sort of experienced guy/poacher we could perhaps do with at margate for a month or so-to help Graz get fit and get some games-and give some experience to the other guys.

Maybe BA should offer to take him on loan for just a month and pay half of his no doubt high wages.

Welford would be a great signing if we could afford him , i think he must be on a pretty desent wage down at Dover but we can all hope and prey . I don`t no if Hessie would want one of his lads playing for a team in the same league as them , we might end up right behind them fighting it out for top spot if we did . Up the Gate .
