Bowers young side went to Oakside and came away with a creditable 2-2 draw and frankly they deserved more.They went 1-0 down on 28th minutes thanks to a predatory goal from Chris Lewis who took advantadge of a misunderstanding between their defenders and gk Dennis.The Bowers lads keept their discipline and got back level a minute before half time with a great header from Del Birkett and a tap in from former SUFC youngster Tora Sinhore.The 2nd half Bowers went close to take the lead quite few times and Barkingside got away lightly when Connolly was brought down in the penalty box by two Side defenders.On 89th minutes they finally got rewarded with a cool finish from new signing Vinnie John.With time running out,a disappointing Side were thrown a lifeline from the referee with a penalty for a foul on Chris Lewis which was on a par with the one not given to Connolly.Tempers started to flare for the penalty decision and it ended up in big "All for one One for all" which resulted in Bowers centre half Guest being sent off alongside Side assistant manager and Bowers gaffer.Certainly the referee and his assistants must have been watching elsewhere when a Side player jumped on a Bowers one and stamped on him....Anyway,even with the extra player for 30 extra time minutes,Side failed to take advantadge and a resolute Bowers easily controlled the game and even went close to score the winner which on a balance of play,they would have fully deserved.After all the off the pitch talking and some Side players boasting on the forum that they would have crushed the Bowers lads,we witnessed a game where,in my opinion there was only one team that deserved to win through and it was Bowers.A Barkingside team that is nowhere as good as last year hard working,strong and with a great team spirit Side,apart 3 players(Dennis,Thompson and goalscorer Lewis),live to fight another day and they will need to step up their game if they don't want to be knocked out by a young and under costruction Bowers team.

Tafkam,Bowers played 6 18 years old players yesterday and Vinnie was there to help them.By the way,well done for scoring against the C******g Bones but only a 2-2 draw?Did one of the Incredible Hulk defender mark you?

No,he's trying to build up a side for the future with the addition of some more experienced players in key roles.Tony has nothing to prove to anyone.He's has seen and done it before and knows that there are a lot of journeymen in this league.Give him time and will make Bowers successful again.The same as Don Watters at Takeley.
