Guernsey for the Kent League?

I believe that could be because the Kent League has a very high level of non-league football - a compliment indeed!!! Although I'm sure that Guernsey Utd could go play in France instead.....lol

It was in last week's NLP and apparently Guernsey are trying to arrange sponsorship to fund the travel for Kent teams to the island.

Guernsey also play rugby in the London League, returning to the football, the standard is pretty good but the better players already play in England, Ryan Zico Black played for Morecambe against Margate in the Conference days and of course "Le god" Le Tissier also originated in the Bailiwick. Lee Tardif was at Bournemouth and Oxford and I am sure there are others.

I cant see it really happening without sponsorship but the grounds in Guernsey are certainly far better than Kent League standard and the main ground shared with Rugby and a fantastic athletic facility puts the vast majority of Ryman League grounds to shame (including Hartsdown Park).

There are only two airlines from gatwick Flybe and the Island owned Aurigny and a huge difficulty in my eyes is that you can be fogbound here and on the island frequently, but if it happened I would predict that they would compete very strongly as the structure there is excellent, not bad really for a small island with a resident population of 60,000 people.

Personally, notwithstanding whether this happens or not-and to start with Guernsey need to appoint/become affiliated as a 'club' as such-to participate in the Kent League, i hope that we never compete in the kent league as margate (reserves excepted)and that we are always in higher leagues.

Why are we thus pondering over how to get to Guernsey when Margate themselves do not play in the kent League (who said yet ?)

(hopefully-i will not be feeling any different after tomorrows minor matter of a high court hearing which seriously threatens the very existence of Margate footbal club) !!

Up the 'Gate

Sorry MM if it is not a post that interests you but the question was posed. i replied as I am allowed to do so, I suppose you want to get back to the "dont concede the nil" for the millionth time, I think its a bit of a change actually and discussing the Kent League is surely important to all Kent football supporters.

Aaargh-the beauty of the internet and the misinterpretation of posts !!

'Communication is the response that we get' so i take complete responsibility for my post being misinterpreted.

For the record, i am equally interested in this development', but as my post was meant to imply-i hope that Margate never have to contemplate playing Guernsey in the kent League ,as that would be yet another 2 demotions.

I also have an interest in the kent League as margate reserves play in division one of that league.

I would very much enjoy flying to Guernsey from Bristol to watch Margate v guernsey in conference south however !!

Thank you for your kind comments re:my 'do not concede the nil posts'of last season.

As you advise,i have until now, made no mention this season of the importance of that, because whilst i absolutely believe in its importance,my expectations are so much lower this season and imo it would be unrealistic to expect it too often.

As it happens, others appear to have taken up the mantle anyway, and in particular, we now have a manager who apparently also believes that clean sheets are so important.

I am so sorry GT that my posts by implication bore you-they do me aswell quite often.

May i respectfully suggest therefore that you make life easy for yourself by putting me on ignore.
