Horsham FC - Help needed

Quick favour guys,

As some of you may or may not know, Horsham FC are currently homeless. We're playing at Worthing which is too far away from Horsham for the club to survive.

Horsham district council have treated us terribly and apart from throwing out various planning applications on technicalities whilst also bowing to the nimbys at the first sign of trouble, have yet to provide any help or guidence as to a suitable site for the club to build a new ground.

HFC is dying a slow death.

Please sign this petition which will be presented to Horsham district council, it may not actually push the council into action, but hopefully they will see people care and are not going to leave this alone.

Thanks.

Computer says no - the link doesn't work.

In all seriousness I am disappointed to hear Horsham are struggling, but had a feeling they would as soon as they left Queen Street. I liked that ground and it can't be much fun having to travel to Worthing. Have they started building on the old ground yet?

I thought Hendon were going to move to Wembley (the club, that is) before the start of the season, expecting them to have at least one more season at Claremont Road. It's good that they won't be kicked out of the league though.

With Horsham I thought the ground was sold for housing or some kind of other development, and that they had somewhere else in mind (a sports club?) to move to at some point.

horsham fc sold their ground on their own volition, they didnt have another ground sorted.

Feel sorry for the fans by all means, but dont blame the council.

There is a senior club in Horsham (YMCA) why should the council find another ground for another club that left their home?

If Horsham people want to follow a club they have YMCA, if they are die hard lardie boys its off on the train.

What about all the youth sides that were playing under the Horsham banner?

They cant drag the parents down to the coast each weekend.

someone has messed up and it wasnt the council.

Not quite true

Yes they did sell their ground to a property Investor (Their own sponsors), but they bought ground to move on to.

This ground already contains a sports club and pitches. The council, however turned the plans down flat, mainly due to local complaints.

These complaints amounted to :

Average crowd of around 1000 - FALSE - these figures include AFC wimbledon, and the FACup run

200 cars, or there abouts - FALSE - taken from the average crowd figures

The mistake was to try and move on before planning permission had been given.

Currently HFC coach supporters to Worthing to watch the home games.

As to YMCA, there's a friendly rivalry between the two clubs that would stop most supporting the other. Just like a Spurs fan wouldn't watch Arsenal play if they couldn't make it to White Hart Lane.

they sold their ground with no where to go.

the club felt they couldnt progress at queen street but could at Holbrook.

progression = increased gates, activity, cars etc.

madness to leave the town, insanity to keep blaming council.

not only did the bosses sell the ground without sorting a new one they ballsed up the groundshare.

sign the petition by all means but the club are to blame , no one else.

no Im not on the council, but I'm fed up with people blaming councils for mistakes made by football clubs.

the wording on the petition is harmless enough,I have no problem with that.

Its quotes like this that annoy me.

"Horsham district council have treated us terribly and apart from throwing out various planning applications on technicalities whilst also bowing to the nimbys at the first sign of trouble, have yet to provide any help or guidence as to a suitable site for the club to build a new ground."

The club took a huge gamble on selling the ground before planning permission was in place for a new one.

Its Guildford all over again.

YMCA will get the towns support, commercially, kids etc, Horsham FC cant groundshare permanently.

It won't be long before there is no Horsham FC but an AFC Horsham in sussex div 3 playing at broadbridge heath, demanding the council let them get the ground up to Ryman standard.
