Bookham played some great football for 65 minutes last night against Frimley Green, unfortunately the game had started 25 minutes before hand and Frimley had caused Bookham all sorts of problems and taken a 4 goal lead a couple of good strikes from Peters which should have been saved another from Shannon and the 4th from Wiltshire. Credit to Frimley they wanted it more than Bookham and they looked like the Premier side for the 1st half.
Bookham did create chances to reduce the arrears in the 1st period hitting the post and crossbar with a shot and a header and missing another couple of good chances when well placed. Second half was mostly Bookham attacking and they pulled one back early on through Jarman and could / should have had a pen but credit to Gridley how stayed on his feet to cross the ball when falling over would have been easier. More missed chances as Frimley defended deep to keep their 3 goal cushion.

No complaints at the end of the day as Bookham cost themselves the game, credit to Frimley too how battled hard and took their chances in the 1st 25 mins.

It was an unbelievable start last night and we raced into a 3 goal lead after 15 minutes.

 

Could have been 4 - 2 at half time, but we managed to hold on.

 

Far closer second half, but was suprised being 4 - 0 down that Bookham stuck to 4-4-2.

 

Bookham deservedly pulled one back, and should have had a penalty as Teffers said. Any other player I know whould have gone down. Me and SL were having kittens when the challenge went in.

 

Fantastic result for us and now looking forward to the challenge of Redhill.

 

It was also nice to meet another forum member last night, hello Lightning.

Wow what a night. I probably had the most nerve racking 45 minutes of my short management career and we were 4-0 up.

 

First half probably created 5 good clear cut chances for both teams and the difference was the keepers, post and crossbars. I thought we played very well in the first 45 minutes to kill off the tie. Bookham looked very sluggish early on and it was this that gave us the advantage.

 

Second half Bookham came after us just like we thought and we defended deep to not risk the lead we had. There was some strange advantage played and the one time he should of brought it back, he decided not to. Blatant penalty by our giant.

 

Why cant we do it in our own league is the question?

Just for the record I did offer to buy SL a drink last night and he turned me down what a relief that was !!! Also offered to buy one of the lino kents a drink and let him get to the bar 1st and delayed my apperance til he'd paid

We had a very entertaining game at Banstead, made 7 changes to the side that were so sh@@T at the weekend and fully got what we deserved last night every penalty despatched with confidence.
