U18 Away to Folkestone

Margate kept their 100% start of the season to make it 3 away wins out of 3.

The match itself had little incident with the Folkestone team's only real aim was to get men behind the ball.

The first half saw margate take the lead after a shot from Sam Crompton hit the bar and PEEL headed the ball into the empty goal with the goalie still on the floor. Margate then struggled with the long ball from Folkestone who's lone striker chased everything with the sun in the margate defence's eyes allowing the ball to bounce. The ievitable happened with 1 minute of the first half left when folkestone hit a long hopeful ball forward and number 11 struck a sweet shot towards the bottom corner which was well saved but like the margate goal a Folkestone player was there to tap in.

The second half saw margate well on top in every department. With no sun in their eyes the boys at the back dealt with everything in the air and limited Folkestone to just 1 oppertunity. The margate boys huff and puff with no reward until 10 minutes from the end when after some neat play from the midfield led to a shot from 18 yards from sam Cliff which beat the goalie in the bottom right corner. After that Dan Gonzalez almost took the head off of the Folkestone defender with a shot that was destined for the top corner (thats what he says anyway). Folkestone never looked like equalising and had margate just attacked the ball for any of the numerous corners which were put in the box from Crompton the scoreline would have been alot larger.

The 2-1 win capped off a great weekend for Margate with both the reserves and the firsts winning aswell.

Next match on Sunday. F.A Youth Cup at home against Hastings so if your free come down and support the boys. Not sure of kick off time. Maybe 11am

U14.s beat ramsgate 4-2 at Minster , captain Alex Miles headed the first just before the break at the end of a very evenly matched first half , margate doubled their lead mid way through the second half when logan Pugh blocked the keepers attempted clearance and sent the ball into the net , but ramsgate responded immediately when their striker neatly lobbed our keeper Josh Mattless with a good finish, Margate then hit 2 quick goals with Tommy Armstrong getting the last touch ( i think ) on the third and a Superb turn and lob finish fron Shane Mitchell sealing a hard fought victory . The rams did get a deflected second with the last kick of the game . The Margate side were superb as were the Ramsgate boys , the match was played at a very high standard and this also applies to the sportmanship displayed by all concerned . as hoped the match was a credit to Thanet Football.

I read that ramsgate were put out of the FA Youth Cup by Dover tonight.

best wishes to our talented guys for a margate win over hastings on sunday at HDP.

The winners reward-another home draw against Eastbourne Youth and then

just one game away from a league sides youth team at HDP.

From what i read-if they play to their ability-our Youth side can get to the first round proper at least-and possibly beyond
