Wayne speaks

Whilst KP is talking to the NLP, there is an article from Wayne Wilson in nonleague today.

Nothing world shattering in it-a few justified whinges re:referring decisions and individual errors.

I paraphrase a bit:

'its all starting to come together now'.

off the pitch the margate fans are really great.

Ryan peters is a good player, but with lots of injuries we've had a pretty unsettled team, which affects our continuity.

its only a matter of time before we beat someone five or six nil (not sure i agree with that one wayne)

I do like the closing statement:

I reckon we can sneak into the play-offs,but its going to have to be a team effort.

well we are only 9 points off ,which is about the same as we were in March last season when we were still thinking we had half a chance of making it!!

I'm not getting too caried away over one win, but we seem to have the makings of a decent team and squad now.

For me, the biggest difference is getting a proper defensive full back in-Kerrigan,not playing Peters as a forward, and playing Gregory left midfield.

All gives proper balance and depth to me.

I don't expect us to win the league-or even make play-offs-but that squad if it can remain relatively injury free is very capable of getting better and taking us to mid table.

true, i remember times last season where there was like 8 points seperating everyone from 3rd to 15th, so if we can keep in touch with those teams, anything is possible...

admittedly, the team is a lot tougher and stronger than i was expecting pre-season, but i would still be quite surprised to see us hanging on to the top half of the table. i hope we can

Too true Michael. If we do get carried away with it all it will be our undoing.
But yesterday WAS a day to smile about. Now for similar on Tuesday,if at all possible.
If at all possible did I say? Yes,of course it's possible but it's not to be expected but hoped for.

That is such defeatist talk. I expect to WIN everything and those that work for me are expected to WIN everything as well.

Until it is matmatically impossible for us to be Ryman Premier Champions then that is what I would expect every player to expect to achieve.

no offense Joseba, but i think thats a bit daft... theres not much point in having that view on this just because its mathematically possibly. that will just lead to more disappointment in the end when we dont get there. its much better to have a more realistic (even if it is a defeatist) approach, becuase the targets that are set with this approach can be more easily achieved, making the season seem more successful in the end...

but maybe thats just me. my teachers hated me in school for having this attitude towards my work. lol...

I think you get my drift Joseba. Stop picking holes. Defeatest it certainly isn't.Its about keeping ones feet on the ground. To be confident is a good thing, of course it is, but to be over confident is not. Always keep some shred of uncertainty within.

No I am not the real owner of MFC so am afraid I cannot pay the taxman.

I always aim high and neverr take defeat as failure but as a learning curve to do better next time. In life you learn more from mistakes than anything else.

Is it what you teachers thought of you Stuy that you are now located in a Deepdale depressing area of the North rather than being overjoyed with fullment and contentment from seeing the GATE play week in week out?.

I agree with Joseba - no point at all in aiming for halfway, or being satisfied with it.

And most certainly it is important to use a defeat as a springboard to something better.
