Bookham V Frimely Green FA Vase Sunday 21st

Enjoyable game in very different conditions to Frimley's last visit to Meadowbank. Frimley took an early lead with a nice overhead kick (i think!), Bookham equalised from a penalty and went 2-1 up shortly after half time. Frimley had their centre half red carded after he did a John Terry on Bookham's useful no.9 (correct decision though). On 90 minutes Mark Peters equalised with a thunderbolt to take it to extra time. Bookham went ahead again in the second period of extra time and it looked all over but Peters again saved the day with a deflected free kick. Good performance from Frimley playing an hour or so with ten men, Bookham a bit wasteful in my opinion.

Nearly forgot, an honourable mention for Watto in the FG goal. Came up for a corner in the last minute of normal time (just before Peters equaliser) and had a great shot from the edge of the box tipped over by the Bookham keeper. That and a few decent saves.

Oh and there's now a hole in the away dugout......

Thought first half was very even and it was disappointed to go in 1-1 after a silly penalty to give away. Second half we knew we would weather a bit early on and when they scored early we still were not worried and then the sending off happened on about 60 minutes. In approx. the 89th minute sent the keeper up for a corner and he brought the ball down on the edge of the box and forced a good save from the keeper. In the 95th minute Peters smashed one into the top corner which no keeper could save. Extra time and with 10 men knew it was going to be hard and when it went 3-2 with about 6 to go I thought it was over. Free kick came and it took a massive deflection once struck and its 3-3. Bookham had a couple of chances near the end and should of finished us off.

I will say that I thought the 3 officials had a very good game and told them that after. The best we have had all year.

A game full of emotions for supporters of both sides, Agree with much said above and at 2-1 Bookham should have sealed the game but wasted chances and at least one great save by the visitors keeper kept the game alive for Frimley and credit to Frimley Green who kept going into the 94th minute to force extra time and then hitting back (with a bit of luck) 3 mins after Bookham had gone 3-2 up in extra time. Bookham missed another couple of chances at the death of extra time too. Played in a good manner by both sides and Tuesday's replay should be entertaining.

Good to meet SL again and TC too..........honest wink

Best shout from behind the dugouts in the last 5 minutes of extra time was "This lot are sh*t and we have been all over them for the last 30 minutes."

Did not help that I put 3 forwards on to chase the game which gave us 5 forwards out of my 10 players.

Sorry SL, don't like to disturb a man whilst he's working! Take it TC was the bald guy sat in the (now air conditioned) dugout?

By the way, agree the officials were good. Nothing to moan about really, correct decisions for both the penalty and red card i think.

I managed to make the ground for the k/o for the 2nd half after witnessing Mole Valey Chix trounce Guildford Saints 7-2 at Box Hill School.

Thrilling end to end stuff and I must wish Bookham well on the Tuesday night replay. I also thought two ex DFC players had a brilliant 2nd. half for Bookham.

Didn't spot that one SL.

Sorry I had to shoot off immediately after the final whistle. It'd been a long weekend.

DFC Saturday: Ladies @ lunchtime, then Bookham-Frimley p.m., then an evening out with the lads.

I slept well last night !
