Should they stay or should they go

So then, if things do stay as they are and we are not run by the supporters, who would you like to see stay and go. Personally I'd like to see the following stay:

- Howard

- Palmer

- Daly

- Brown

- Barras

- Metcalfe

- Wilkinson

- Spencer

- James

- Winston

- Boot

Would have added Gilkes, but he's retiring. The others left off the list are too inconsistant I believe. Anyone else?

There is no way you can leave Bubb off that list- even if he is a bit inconsistent he is by far one of the best at the club just look at the number of goals he has scored if you want that type of justification.

How dare you all not want to keep Ricky Browne??!!

My list of players NOT to keep are: (not including Gilkes as he's retiring and so is Barras?)

Browne (both of them!), Williams, Deaner, Braich and Bakishan

I'd be surprised if we managed to hold onto all our players, as some are bound to get better offers (Boot, Bubb, Winston, Rocastle). I just hope we have a proper pre-season aganist decent local teams (i.e. not Rugby United!!!).

Bubb to stay???? No wonder you post as anonymous! Many of the fans believe he should have gone to Carlisle when he had the chance. Not that we have anyone to replace him mind.

Bubb is too concerned with pulling off tricks than passing the ball and far too often tries to take on a man when there is an easy pass to put in a team mate.

It's been said that far too many of the current squad would rather not score a 'rubbish' scrappy goal and only want blockbusters and goals which make them look good. We need more fighters in the team that want to scrap and score any way that it comes.

If next season we can only offer as much as other clubs, or potentially a bit less, then we'll find out who really wants to play for Slough Town. All of us could have a guess at which players would fall into that category although I suspect not many of us would choose Byron.

It will be interesting to see how the club is run next season. Surely in the ideal world, Martyn gets the land and is able to develop it securing the long term future of the club within Slough on the present site. Next season, he puts up some money upfront which is then the budget for the season, somewhere in the region of £50k to cover season long wages would be lovely (£1.2k per week budget approx) and we can build from there.

Share with Windsor for three or less years and then move into a lovely new stadium with surrounding complex and financial structure in place.

I'm dubious as to whether Deaner can pull this off given his past record....

The walk to Berko gave lots of time for discussion about the current situation. Kay and I have struggled to fit all the pieces of the jigsaw together for some time and even now can't work out some of the answers.

Surely Deaner and Thorne are in the redevelopment together though. Deaner has said he's not the financial backer of the redevelopment and if he and Thorne are in it together it would explain why Mayfair haven't done something about unpaid rent. It would also explain why Mayfair won't extend the lease on Wexham Park as it stands as all the time it's unresolved they've got the supporters of STFC getting at the Council to make a decision on the land.

The only question unanswered is why the Council just don't make a decision and allow Deaner and his consortium to buy the land? This would get Deaner, Thorne and us off their back and enable them to honour their commitment about finding a permanent home for Slough Town within the town.

Is there something we've completely missed in all this?

Unpopular choices are my forte so I'm going to try and make myself hated even more. I would say get rid of James but then he may be worth keeping for a while if we get in someone who can teach him what he actually is meant to do with the ball and keep Hodge(s). Although he hasn't shown his best form he is still a decent reserve striker to have on the books. However, this is all looking at a perfect World. Can't personally see half of the players Chris listed staying. One things for certain though, 'Conference' MUST stay!!!!!!!!!!

If he is 'Conference' then why would he stay! Surely the likes of Aldershot, Woking, Dagenham, Chester, Hereford et al will be chasing him like crazy over the summer!

Steve Browne appears to believe that many of the players, including one Veli Hakki, will follow him to whichever club he plays at, but I find this very hard to believe given the way he treats and has treated some of the players.

The following should be released:

Blake, Daly, Ricky Browne, Deaner .

The team should be from what we have and if Veli returns:

Kippers, Palmer, Howard, Gyoury, Barras, Bubb, Mets, Hakki, CJ, Winston and Boot.

Subs: Wilko, Willo, Adrian Brown, Spencer and Hodge.

We should then be looking to add at left full back, centre half, in the sticks and a third goal scorer.

Bubb???? Never!

We should be looking more toward releasing the high earners and finding out how many of the current squad want to stay. We'd soon find out when we play them on reduced wages and see how many want to get away quickly!

Why would you release Daly and keep Howard? Since returning from injury, I don't think Anthony's attitude has been quite right, but a fantastic talent to have at the club...

I would release Daly because I think he is over rated and unconvincing at this level. Bizarrely he seemed to do better for Hayes last year than he has managed for us in the past two seasons. At times commanding, at times a liability. Too slow. Must be on a far wage. Time to part ways.

Keep Howard because he is young, talented and recovering from a serious injury with his best still to come. Has also been played out of position. Tempted to say deano should be released to make it clear that Howard should be our right back. I don't doubt his attitude, perhaps it has something to do with other circumstances at the club...

Don't quite get the criticism of bubb when some people believe spencer to be conference quality! Yes bubb has been inconsistent and often tries to go one step too far. I honestly believe he is a major threat at this level and with decent coaching and support he could be a class act. What is his flaw? Tries to take on too many players, can be coached out of him. Poor crossing would improve with practice. His attitude has been odd, but again I don't think the management has helped. Was he ever consistently selected by browne? The team was chopped and changed too often this season, often without explanation.

Don't want to put myself down but I believe I am the only one who stated Spencer as conference quality. Bubb is useless though. Daly should be kept. Ideal midfield for me next year would be Hakki, Spencer, Metcalfe and one other maybe Wilko or a new recruit. Not quite sure how they would line up across though. I'm sure most people are aware by now that I am not a CJ fan which is why I wouldn't include him. Maybe a new manager will come in (HOPEFULLY) and change formation anyway. Many succesful teams now play 3 at the back which could well work for us seeing as we really have no real quality full backs at the club (Barras is a midfielder).

GK Jean-Zepherin

CB 1 Howard

CB 2 Daly

CB 3 Palmer/Gyoury

LM Barrowcliff

RM Wilkinson

CM 1 Metcalfe

CM 2 Hakki

Attacking CM Spencer

CF 1 Winston

CF 2 Boot

Going by current squad plus Hakki I wouldn't mind seeing that team next year.
