Danny Kerrigan

Looks like kerrigan has been at Wivenhoe for last couple of weeks.

I wonder on what basis kerrigan has been signed-seems just like the type of player we need

Interesting re:Peters-maybe one of the few things trott got right-he possibly is a better full back than forward

Kerrers will/could be a good signing for you. Very well liked at 'ricay and caused quite a stir when he was released this summer.

I think you've missed Southend off his previous clubs. I'm pretty sure he made some first team appearances there.

Spot on but he's not a target man. Anywhere we he can come at defenders is a plus.

On the other hand,Power,in getting that role, without Peters as the main man up front, now seems to be bringing out the best in him though I could see there was more in the locker with Powers game anyway before yesterday. I hope both continue in these positions & play similar good games in the future. It can only reap rewards for the team i.m.o.

Well, yes Wellsie in old terms I would say that. If brought forward to that position it will do us even more good I reckon. Still if its full back he is to play at,though not as I would hope it is certainly better than being the expected front man that was before.I bet he looked more interested in the game too being further back yesterday.
As for Kerrigan, reports seem very favourable.

As we need 4 solid midfield players, its going to be hard to fit Power,Pratt and peters in the same team.

By playing peters as a full back/wing back, that enables the 3 P's to play in the same team-and Peters to surge forward;knowing that with the likes of Wilson,Stubbs,Smith and gregory in midfield, there is no flakey midfield but solid cover.

The other key seems to be kerrigan on the other flank-a proper solid full back who is a defensive full back, so you have siolidity there and balance enabling Peters to go on forward runs.

Thus for me-keep on playing Peters at full back-a bit harsh on corbishley though maybe

The more i think about this, the more i think that kerrigan is a key signing.

I just have a bit of a concern that it may not be sustainable long term due to logistics.

If we are now training mondays and thursdays (at HDP on thursdays ?) plus playing many tuesdays;thats alot of travelling for the guy.

Dangerous to assume-but if he has played at Hornchurch, grays ,billericay.heybridge (and recenrtly -half way to Russia at wivenhoe-its a reasonable assumption that he lives in essex, which may mean travel becomes a bind for him.

i really hope not, as he seems to be quality and experience in a position we needed exacltly those qualities-the missing link now filled.

In fact, for me, the squad is about complete. Not much cover up front, but you can't have everything ,and i'd rather have defence and midfield sorted and well covered.

Any more signings would be a bonus as far as i am concerend

Assuming for a moment that Kerrigan lives in Basildon. He could car share with Paul Smith (who lives in Billericay), therefore making the journey down less of a chore. Basildon to here is not much over an hour with a good run down anyway. And that's just once a week for training, and once a fortnight for matchdays.

Training at Thamesmead on a Monday will be just a short drive away for him, and probably even closer than Wivenhoe and Heybridge was.

Just the sort of signing we needed by the way! Now for that elusive quality striker.

I for one am looking forward to welcoming him on Tuesday night. Just the sort of experience we need in the team, one more should help us greatly.

Also looking forward to seeing Lee Butcher in action too.
