What player do we miss most from last season

For a variety of reasons, we released a number of players at the END of last season-frightening when you look at the list.

 

I wonder what players you think we miss most.

 

Not necessarily the best player-but the two who we miss in the current team (maybe the best leader as opposed to the best player) and the two who would make the biggest difference to the current set up and arguably provide best value for money (obviously one has to guess the sort of salary they were on).

 

My list would look like this :

 

SAUNDERS

SKINNER

Haworth

Joseph

Pinnock

Martin

Eastwood

Jackson

Mckimm

 

Again-not necesarily the best player-but the two who would make the biggest difference to the current team-in order.

I was never a raving Skinner fan for example-but in the current set up i believe he would make a major difference.

 

It just seems such a pity to me that BA was not appointed 6 weeks earlier as i am sure that had he been, budget cuts or not; i am sure he would have been able to retain a couple of these who otherwise left .

Simply endeavouring to stimulate footballing debate and topics on what is not the most interesting debate.(is that not the point of a forum.

 

I would be delighted for others to post much more interesting and current topics for debate

 

Are you suggesting that any reference to the psst is thus not acceptable-i.e does that make Jeff trice's history site not acceptable,does that make refreences to the mighty Bob Harrop -rip-not acceptable ?

 

If the topic is not for you-fine-it probably won't be for many others either-just ignore it !!

I think to suggest past players like Bob Harrop etc and Jeff's history site is a bit different than suggesting what players we miss from last season Michael.

 

After all you do make a reference to BA retaining some of them if he had been appointed early, so in my book that is looking back not forwards.

Apologies in advance but after much 'trawling' I am not able to find too much definitive info as to why so many players left so quickly between the end of last season and this one starting.It seems that there must have been something rather drastic occuring for 'none'(almost)staying to see what the new manager was about.Or did they have no choice for the most part and have to leave whether they wanted to or not.I would appreciate your views, and patience for asking, lads and lasses just to enable me to understand how things got to where they are.Maybe by PM if its old hat now and you dont want it raked up again.Thanks.

Think it was a case of it being made known to all the players that this seasons budget would be lower than previous seasons & that new Contracts would not be at the same (pay)level as those ending in April. Skinner/McKimm/Jackson/Pinnock/Saunders/Martin & Haworth were all out of Contract at the end of the season. Just leaving Scotty (who was transfer listed), Louis, Luke and Ryan as the contracted first-teamers.

What i found sad was seeing Jimmy Jacksons picture in the local wearing a Folkstone shirt when they played the Rams at the weekend . Now he was something special on his day and Pinns scoring goals for the Stones as he could have been doing for us now . Up the Gate .
