....i have been informed today that a very good friend of mine and true supporter of MFC Melvin Stickles has passed away, Melvin was a real joy as a friend and some of you will remember his good wife chris who used to run the small catering outlet outside the clubhouse and his daughter karen who spent some time working behind the bar. Mel has been ill for a while but he was my laughter tonic when he used to take me to the away games on many many occasions him and his walking stick was one of the reasons i started to follow the gate he was a true true friend and i will miss him loads, am finding it very hard to even write this piece, The funeral is taking place on Friday at the crematorium i believe at 2pm will confirm time just to be sure if anyone would like to attend.

R.I.P my friend you were a huge inspiration to me

Thats bloody sad news John , I remember him taking us upto Shrewsbury town for there 1st game in the Conference and us all laughing on the way home as we went past our own fans coach going back to the ground to pick up the photographer who they had forgotten . Mel was a lovely bloke to talk to and im sure he will be missed by all who knew him . R.I.P Mel .

Crikey.

This is real sad news & big blow. Great guy!.

I still recall playing cricket against him in years gone by.Was a very good player in those days.

He's gonna be missed a lot.

A Margate fan & supporter through & through & he was there at nearly every game.I'm shocked, real shocked.

My condolences to his family. Goodbye Melv,R.I.P.

A truly good bloke. He drove myself and my boy to numerous away games back in the Conference days. I recall chatting away with him on the way to Telford before we realised we had got so engrossed in the conversation that we had gone about 70 miles in the wrong direction.

Condolences to all of his family and friends. As I said, a truly nice bloke.

funeral confirmed as 2pm i have been told that the procession will pass by the football club but not sure what time i would assume it will be around 1.30 all are welcome to attend and any donations can be made to ASTON WALKERS in northdown road, would be nice if we could get a few people standing outside the club to say our goodbyes what do you guys think???
