Rumours about Stansted and cups (plural) !

Essex Senior League club Stansted are still in shock at the FA`s decision to remove them from this season`s Vase competition.

Hargrave Park club officials are due to attend Soho Square on Tuesday afternoon to meet the FA Vase committee to explain their position as regards the ruling bodies` judgement.

Despite the position they find themselves in, boss Terry Spillane`s players were simply magnificent in defeating this term`s Essex Senior League title-favourites Enfield 1893, thanks to a wonder strike from skipper Paul Seymour just shy of the half time interval.

They defended as if their lives depended on it afterwards and Stansted had heroes all over the park.

Spillane (pictured) told nonleaguedaily:

So wait and see.

Don't think that any of the current infringements will include the league cup old chap as defaulting in this will just mean a replay and, perhaps, a fine.

We know that the national cup is affected and I just wondered if our county cup is too as that will be of particular interest to Romford FC.

Historically I believe that national element comes first and any similar infringement lower down have to wait for that to be dealt with.

Not down to me old chap. I've been told that M11 to junction 9 and back down is the best route as long as you manage to do Gooshays to the M25 in the statutory 5 minutes or so as most people do! evil

From the FA Vase website today -

"The FA Carlsberg Vase

First Round Qualifying

Stansted v Brimsdown Rovers

Saturday 6 September 2008

An FA Vase Sub Committee was held on Tuesday 16 September 2008 to consider the facts surrounding the inclusion of Joe Lustig in the above tie, whilst under a 35 day suspension imposed by the Amateur Football Alliance.

The Sub Committee decided that Stansted had breached The FA Vase Rules by playing a suspended player, who was therefore ineligible.

The Sub Committee decided that in accordance with its discretionary powers that Stansted be removed from the Competition and Brimsdown Rovers reinstated. The prize fund payment is also awarded to Brimsdown Rovers.

No order was made as to costs and no fine imposed as removal from the Competition is deemed sufficient punishment.

The FA Carlsberg Vase Second Round Qualifying will now be Brimsdown Rovers v Eton Manor to be played on Wednesday 24 September 2008."

...........................................................

I believe that Joe Lustig also played against Romford in the the first round of the Essex Senior Cup a week ago yesterday which Stansted won 1-0.

The next (second) round of the ESC is week commencing Monday 6th October and Boro may well be visiting the environs of Saffron Walden on the Tuesday evening of that week.
