Ultimate Drinking Partners

Recommended Posts

Whilst enjoying a few quiet pints with the old man (who I notice has been on a number of 'business trips' to Halifax recently) in the Invisible Pub, a recurring conversation popped up so we thought we'd put it to you lot.

Along the lines of the "Top 5" charts that get banded about everywhere, we were trying to decide the ultimate crowd to go out drinking with.

Obviously, Ollie Reed, George Best and Shane McGowan would all be a laugh for a hardcore, liver-destroying session. But who would be the best entertainment to make the perfect night in the Invisible Pub?

I wouldn't mind a few with the Spice Girls, purely as an educational excercise. (As long as the wife stayed at home, mind !)

Had a drink with Chas and Dave, years ago, in a Club in Bristol, after they'd done a gig there. Their drummer, (the one with the hat), was a hoot !!

Big JV would have to be there!

Not too sure about the Spice Girls though. Although they could prove entertaining later in the evening when a little worse for wear.

Personally, I wuld love a few ales with Paul Whitehouse (hilarious Enfield-born Spurs supporter!), Yossarian (protagonist from Catch-22), the Invisible Student (humourous sibling), Stephen Fry (witty good-egg), Glenn Hoddle (deity), Jimi Hendrix (other deity) and the mad old fella who drinks in the Kings Head in Enfield town (the one who ISNT the Invisible Man)

Obviously a few young ladies would be required, so Caroline Quentin, Elizabeth 1, Jane Horrocks and Deborah Harry (shall I tell them all the story, pops?)

Lizzy One does have her bad points - royalty, ginger and dead. Technically of Welsh descent as well I suppose.

But quite a cool old gal for all that. She got blokes to put their coats in puddles and invent potatoes for her so she must have been a bit of a sort.

How many are we allowed in the drinking gang? I think I'd go for thespians Burton, Reed, Harris, Hopkins and O'Toole, Jimmy Greaves, Robin Hood and his mate John, Grant and Phil Mitchell, Aristotle, George Best, Horatio Nelson, Bruce Willis, Barnes Wallis, Sean Connery, Hawkeye and Trapper John, Boadicca, Caratacus, and Long John Silver.

And the entire ETFC management, players and supporters club - or is that just getting silly?.

Yes!!
Glad you invited Sean Connery though.
I was at a party once (long time ago) and Oliver Reed was there. Drunk as usual (him not me, might have been but I can't remember)!!
