It is interesting to see that the league wont boast any whipping boys this season!!

Thats what it is all about, competitive fixtures each week...when Concord beat Apsa/Beaumont by double figures last season, that was embarrassing but ultimatley won them the league on goal difference

Good shout, there has been quite a few suprise results already this season! Still Enfield and Romford for me but Basildon keep winning...you cant do anymore than that!

Im looking forward returning to Basildon, good memories from my time there. Also, it is a lucky ground for me..4 goals in 4 appearances since I left!

Few ESL sides still in the Vase aswell....ne nice to see a few progress even further

Yeah well done guys. We're looking forward to visiting Fortress Takeley next Saturday!

Make sure that your tea urn is nice and full and that you have plenty of burgers sizzling on the hot plate!

Takeley are a solid side that try to play a controlled passing game and they will win a lot more games than they will lose.Having said that, with 25 minutes into the 2nd half the scoreline at 1-1 and with the referee giving free-kicks against them for arguing each other, the difference between the two teams was their keeper pulled off 2 great saves and ours didn't!!This year ESL league will see a lot of surprising results with teams taking points off each other.People mentioned Enfield but they already lost twice and the tables are not true with half of the teams that played 6 games already and the other half only 3.Basildon are so far the surprising package and only Romford are confirming the bookies predictions but even them will have bad days at the office sooner or later. It's really a much more exciting league this year! applause2

funny man who wrote this. The difference between the two was the keeper made two great saves??. Yes the takeley's keeper did make two great saves but if he never they would of still won. Much better side contolled the game for 75 of the 90 mins and at times were keeping the ball brilliantly and actually slowing the game to a walking pace. So if Hullbridge did score their chances Takeley would of had to create more and chances and therefore would have won. I have watched Takeley many times even though they could not win at the start, (God knows how)they were never played off the park ever, and were always gonna surprise a few sides once they got that first win. Have a feeling that some people might start changing their predictions.

As i said Takeley are a decent side and i'm not gonna get involved in a slanging match. They won because our goalkeeper who usually has been reliable, had a bad day at the office and basically gifted all 3 goals(a corner,an own goal and an injury time back pass). That was the difference between the two sides. For the rest good luck to them, keep playing your passing game and see you next time and please tell one of your players that nobody said on this forum we would have smashed you!! grin Fecking forum...now even Takeley gets people on here!! doah

Well, you might be right...but I remember a Sawbo side in 1994-95 that with a number of clubs in various Cup runs, took the opportunity to amass 40 league points before Christmas(the highest in history at that stage)and were 18 points ahead of GREAT WAKERING ROVERS only for the mighty Rovers to claw back all those 18 points and taking over at the top by March 25th 1995 and win the League Championship!!! excited
