FA CUP SCORE

JJ REBEL

i just got back from the match

in all honesty i thought we deserved a replay

we battled superbly in defence and although we didnt create much we caused them a few problems especially early on when DJ i think it was had our best chance well saved by the feet of their keeper

as for the "penalty" i thought from where i was (other end of pitch) that it maybe could have gone either way although seeing as there was nothing more than a half hearted appeal from the boro fans and players maybe it was wrong.

good day out and every slough fan could be proud of the sides performance

we restricted boro to just a handful of chances

shame their army of chavs had to make right pillocks of themselves with 3 of them even getting themselves escorted from the ground. luckily a lot of farnbrough fans arent like that and were on the whole really friendly

imo this result wont affect our confidence too much and we should have more than enough to beat many teams in our league

cant see how they are top unbeaten as we matched them for long spells

lets learn from this and take it on starting next week against Cirencester

COME ON YOU REBELS!!!!

First of all the positives really outweigh the negatives. We only have to look back a season when we were tonked 5-0 by them at Cherrywood Road and since they have improved their squad, won the league and top the next league. Proves were heading in the right direction und Sweets.

Back 3 were excellent today. You build from the back and Fenton, Harps and Evans look to be a good partnership. Resticted them to one real scoring chance all game (apart from the pen) when their guy blazed over from a yard.

Really, really soft penalty. Did anyone claim for it? Don't even know who the foul was by Evans or Fenton, plus everyone really worked hard.

Downside today was the front three that has been so good for us in recent weeks never really got going today. Apart from DJ's shot off the line in the first minute we did not create anything. Saing that though our final ball was not good today. Just wish we had a bit more belief in the final third. Also think the game was made for Gumbsy to come on last 15 mins and go three up-front. What did we have to lose?

As for the younger Farnborough "fans", well Farnborough have a bit of a problem there. I like Farnborough fans, down to earth and speaking to one of them really nice people, but if they get less friendly supporters down there with the youngsters mouthing off left right and centre there could be trouble I fear. It was a really big guesture by one of them to make [****!!****] signs to us when he was escourted out. Big man!

Nil nil and a replay would have been the right result. They were on top and long spells of possession but created very little and I thought we held our own. It was a shame we couldn't keep the unbeaten run going for at least one game longer.

From my angle it was never a penalty. The ball was won cleanly and I think Harper and Evans reaction at the end tells a big story.

I think the starting eleven now looks very strong and their opitions on the bench which is encouraging. Hopefully back to winning ways next week.

On the one hand we gave them a huge amount of possession but then again Jacko had almost no saves to make. The steward by us didn't think it was a penalty and neither did I at the time.

As for the chavs I don't think they did a lot wrong. Their language was a bit naughty on occasions but all they did was sing a few songs. I thought they supported their team well despite quietening down once the three ring leaders got themselves ejected! I'm not sure the other Farnborough fans thought that much of them however!!

- Have to agreewith chris above...lots of positives...from todays game for Slough...

- My personal disapointment was when we conceeded that DODGY penalty , I feel we could have made some changes and gone for broke...Roy gumbs would have injected some fear of god into the Farnborough back four ...and with Thomas Attrell put to run down one wing..would have given Farnborough 15 mins of things to think about ! but the game fizzled out...

but still very happy at the way we played..

well done Slough...

Poor Farnborough they have a problem with the chavs !

hi chris and all must agree a great game no need for players or fans to feel ashamed to only go out 1-0 L to farnbrough but some of there fans were very one sided and in some side they realy have some badley behaved little ones shouting things about slough town and poberbly at and towords other traveling funds

maybe they should be warned given a chance to behave or foced to do some voulentry work in the rain and outside and outside there school hours at there cost and somone eleses gain

when will some learn see most of you on saturday back at home a vital home fixture against a fairly good and nimble looking cirensester

cheers all

Never a pen. We were up that end, so had a good view. Fenton had the ball in the first place so how could there be a foul? If anything there must have been a foul on him not the other way. Very soft decision indeed, denying us a deserved replay.

In fact the ref had a pretty good game until then and suddenly following that decision his afternoon started to fall apart and finished 3/10 instead of 7/10.

We never looked like winning but as per previous posts we did a great job keeping them at bay. Jackson had one save to make and that was from a free kick.

Our midfield isn't up to their standard (Premier Division), which is why our front men struggled. We're OK for the level we're at, which is what I would have settled for at the start of this season.

Guest carthorse of the boro

Hi all. Good to see you guys down at San Cherrio. Thought you guys did well today. Shame we had to win it with a dodgy penalty. I thought we were below average today. Not taking anything away from you. If you play like you did today, i'm sure you will be moving up the southern league pretty quickly!

Sorry about the so-called Farnborough Chav supporters. Its not a good thing and i to find them annoying. Good luck for the rest of the season!

I was disappointed walking out of the ground - I thought we were more than good enough for a replay.

Neither side played well though, and the concern for us is that we didn't create enough. Bubb, Platt and Jordan all had off-days in my opinion but the defence were as good as they've been over the last 4 or 5 games.

It was a real shame we had to lose to a highly dubious penalty. I really thought we were going to hold out for the draw.

A significant improvement on last season and a good indicator as to how far we've progressed.

Thought that you played very well today and should more than hold your own in the South and West.Luke is a very good asset for you.Keep playing like that and you could easily get promotion.

By the way a great set of fans.

I agree with Ian and don't think the "chavs" were that bad. Thought they supported their team well and several wished us luck at the end and commented on how we had supported the team. The one who made the abusive gesture towards us made this when being thrown out and I think he was probably more worked up at being thrown out. I don't see the need for them walking round "our" end in the first half but we did invade their regular standing point in the second.

I thought the stewards were very good and took action as appropriate.

As for the game, I'm gutted we didn't get a replay although I think Farnboro did edge the game overall.

Overall a good performance from the team especially in defence where we snuffed out most things that F/borough tried to create. Our midfield are essentially holding players and lack creativity to feed DJ and Platty.

I should have came away feeling fairly satisfied with our performance but I didn't. I feel the manager should have at least TRIED to salvage something from the game instead of seemingly settling for a 1-0 defeat.

1. It was a boiling hot day to play football and some of the players towards the end looked exhausted...so why no subs used?

2. When we went 1-0 down and had to start chasing the game why not bring on some fresh legs? again, we had nothing to lose.

3. The forward line only tested the keeper once in 90 minutes. When we went 1-0 down it was the ideal opportunity to change things around i.e. bring on Gumbs and Attrell to give it a real go for the last 15 minutes.

Absolutely nothing happened and the game just petered out.
