Hess's first big mistake ?

i apologise where this is not directly margate related, but aswell as Nicky Southall on loan; i now read that Dover have signed Grazioli as their 'super striker'.

No doubt he will do ok, but for me-injury prone and way past his 'sell by date';and Dover will get some extra publicity and headlines for a week over it,but its not exactly one for the future is it

Yes-we could do with another striker at Margate-but i am glad that BA is trying to sign up and coming players and looking to the future.

Obviously the likes of Gladioli were well out of our budget anyway, but equally-its not the type of player we would want at margate imo; and as long as BA keeps us out of relegation trouble,i'm all for the way the club are doing things-getting players with futures. Not yesterday's men.

Don't forget that they are getting attendances of 1000;and there off pitch marketing seems pretty good.

I don't foresee Dover having financial problems; and frankly, i think they will do pretty well and win promotion;but i can't quite see the sense in this signing-seems a backward step to me.

Two years time though-we could well be in conf south alongside them

Hess knows the player and he will get the best out of him, run out of money? the club is solid on and off the pitch and will not let past mistakes happen again. Even with the two signings this week the squad is a very young one and to get the best out of the younger players you need the balance of experience with them.I would not imagine there is any chance of Welford being moved out, he is an important player with a big part to play this season.

1. Gillingham are paying 75% or so of Nickys wages

2. Grazioli is a class act and will score plenty at Dover with the service that he will get. He's only 33 and remember he's scored goals everwhere and he was just coming back from injury when he went on loan at Wimbledon. He couldn't get in the Braintree side though but they do have 2 younger class strikers there but that was a league higher. Another thing we had money in the budget for a striker, we've signed one sooooooooooo how are we going to be in financial difficulties because of that ? We have never been more sound than what we are at the moment and the only way is up. The best thing that happened to our club was a few seasons in Ryman south, it got us winning again and the crowds back up and positive again. Sometimes you have to go down to get back up. If the worse does happen to you this season it won't be the worst thing that can happen. Looking back i'm glad we went down a few leagues and sorted ourselves out as we were going nowhere fast, but now there is only one way we're going because of that. By the way good luck Saturday. Before i forget Welford is doing just fine thanks for asking. He is going nowhere.

maybe BA should be delving around like Hessie has . To get Southall on that sort of deal is a great way to bring a player to a club plus the lad gets fit and 1st team footy so when he`s ready to go back he is up to scratch and ready to play and fight for his place . I was impressed with the set up down at Dover but i was very impressed with dare i say it Ollie Shultz , he looks a differant class from his days at the TOTS he stood out from the rest and was probably the difference between the two sides that day . Up the gate .

Don't take too much notice of certain comments - you might notice we are having a little problem in the striking department!! News for you - if we go down again, I believe that will probably be the end of Margate FC. Again, you might have noticed that our council would like to see us disappear...... See Frankie 100 for further details!
