Pluses:

Overall tonight was a good performance. However, once again we did not convert possession into goals. We played some good passing football and the standard of crossing was good. Plenty of effort was shown (maybe a little too much at times!) However, there was no one to get on the end of it all. I can only assume Power is still not fully fit as he didn't even come on when Peters had to go off. With a decent front man the complexion of our team would change completely.

Negatives:

Conceding our now customary soft early goal. The lack of discipline in the final minutes was disappointing to put it mildly.

Oh, and finally, Tooting's winner was amazing - the kind of goal you see once every 20 years. Bit like Marco van Basten v USSR in 1988.

Similarly worried, but still feel we have the talent out there;and that BA has assembled a decent side.

Not getting the rub of the green is making a big differece.

This is the headline from Wellsies match report on the official site, which sums it all up for me:

'Margate lost for the fifth time this season, but surely it

We will really be up against it on Saturday now. Peters off with injury, Louis Smith off with injury and Parkinson straight red carded. Thats not including the other injuries we may have picked up. Whats the chance of P Smith playing without an injury.

To be fair, i think we are well covered:

Really hope Corbishley will be back as he is our best right back, and if not-agree that we look exposed there.(i'm not too sure on Parkinson anyway-does some very good stuff-and some very average stuff-i guess thats what you get with younger players though and agree he has alot of potential to do really well-he's not our player though anyway).

Having said that-parkinson's suspension will not start for 14 days surely.-just listened to Colin Page interview-Parkinson off for swearing-i think thats a one match ban only-or has he previously been sent off this season which would add to the toll

However-whilst i'm not sure how Taylor played last night-based on what i have seen-Young and Taylor would be ok in the centre of defence; (CPage interview says taylor was very good again last night )and up front-Power and Pratt together may just be the combination that 'clicks'

Interesting interview with C.Page-he says that we 'know we need another centre half and centre forward''so as it looks as though we are actively looking for new players.

Frankly, in Young,Taylor and Smith-i still feel we are ok in centre defence(well better than last season anyway)and that Power,Pratt and Peters betwwen them are ok.

CP says that Sam Taylor played well again when he came on last night.

i actually think we are weakest at full back ,though i do not expect many to agree with me.

Similarly to Cookie above, i reckon we are close to being a decent side.

Well unlike a few of you I was at the match last night and have taken until now to cool down.

Striker Required. Well lets wait and see Kenny last night led the line well and was unlucky not to score. He has the same attitude as Rob did last season and never gives up chasing a lost cause. I got the impression that a good partneship can come fro him and Ryan.

Wonder Goal. Rubbish it was a cross that he miss hit (I was standing right opposite him he hit it) hoping to avoid Dan who was closing in on him. It was another freak goal like Lee's on Saturday.

Waynes Goal. Yet again I was only about 10 yards from where Wayne was if anything he was being fouled and none of the 3 T&M players appealed for a free kick. The Ref bottled it.

Parkinson Sending Off. He was booked earlier (quite rightly) in the half and had already been warned by the ref to shut it. He has got to learn and maybe this was the only decision that the ref got right last night and sent him off. I can forgive passion but not petulance. I hope BA fines him to teach him not to do it again.

The Non Penalty. Well need I say more the ref bottled it again.

Overall view. The general lack of dealing with deep crosses is getting worrying and without naming names I think I know who is at fault so hopefully they will get a bit of confidence and deal with crosses better. We were unluky last night and should have won it quite easily but, I am getting fed up saying that.

Injuries. Louis has done his knee and Ryan got a whack on his ankle about 10 minutes before he came off. Both doubtfull for Saturday I would say. Roberto is still probally a couple of weeks away after the Dover rake did him. Oh and Parkinson will not start any suspension till 23rd September.

Thanks for the update Joseba, as you say much better views from someone who was actually at the game. Good to hear Kenny did OK, I believe he needs an extended run in side too, might save the club a few bob in the long run too.

I.m.o Pratt should start in every game.He will improve each time he steps out there I'm sure of it.Not only is he a tricky little player he can also get his head to the ball, not bad for someone so short(Alan Blackburn springs to mind though obviously not in the same class, heading wise as A.B)

I still maintain we need a target man up front with Peters dropping back to...well, you know my thoughts on that one.

Peters isn't a target man he is a creator but moreso than that aggressive running at defenders. As well as that he will be involved more during the game rather than sometimes hanging around up front waiting for & wondering when then next ball is going to be played to him).

I accept that if the manager still prefers to ignore the obvious & keeps Peters up front the addition of Pratt alongside will improve things more than has been previously, though not to the extent that I think it could be if...(shut it Cookie, already you've already said it a thousand times wink ).

Power is better than some are seeing but whether it be him or another, with Pratt alongside it will benefit us in the long run.

Thank you Joseba for your comments. It IS always good to hear from someone that was actually at the game.(work commitments allowing). Interesting comments that about their "super goal".

I`d like to make a comment, i think Joseba has got it correct, hes calmed down, gathered his thoughts, and made a good post, which is better than making pathetic comments when your bloods boiling straight after a game.

Well done J

Stop with the creeping Ian.(You are on his ignore list anyway so your comments won't get through to him) laugh
Were you there last night to know his post is spot on?
Besides no-one has said he is wrong (how could we if we weren't there).
I agree his post is a good one & very helpful too'. Blast you got me at it now! laugh
I cant see where anyone has said otherwise.
Who's pathetic comments are you referring too by the way. I haven't seen any!

I agree with Joseba and Cookie.

I too was at the game last night and my comments are going to be similar to Josebas.

We need a finisher - some excellent and dangerous crosses going in last night with no-one to add the finishing touch.

Ryans free kick was superb - I was at the other end and knew where he was going to put it - fantastic.

Was impressed with Kenny Pratt - ran at everything including T&M defence which they hated!

The ref was having a reasonably good game until the last 10 minutes and then just completely lost the plot. I'm sorry, but if you stop a shot on goal with your arm/hand in the area it's a penalty and probably a straight red too. Also, Wayne's goal should have stood - he was being hassled by no less than 3 T&M defenders!!! Ridiculous....

Unfortunately, I saw heads drop after these ridiculous decisions and that needs to stop to. At times in the last quarter it was like watching petulant school boy football!!! Our guys should be used to the oppostion winding them up (Danny Stubbs take note please!)

All in all, I think we will grow as a side this season and most importantly, avoid relegation which, to be honest, will be the death of Margate FC. I really don't think we deserve to be any lower than tier 7.

Am looking forward to the FA Cup although I cannot be there but will be at the very important game in Middlesex the following week (mmmmm can smell the aviation fuel even now!)
