as a return to my more usual forum persona of frasier in dads army :

so far in the league dorking have beaten two sides at the bottom on a draw apiece, lost to two top six sides.

Saturday we play third from bottom.

We will find out a bit more about the club's chances in the league this season when Hanworth Villa visit at the end of September

The defence looks more settled and stronger week by week, and there is now a threat of goals up front. So if we can get enough of the ball we have a good chance.

Very well done to the club for staging the charity game on Sunday despite the bad weather we had.

Dorking's resurgence continued on Tuesday with an impressive win at previously unbeaten Epsom and Ewell in the league cup, Chicks emerging 2-1 victors against the higher league club

Dorking now face Worcester Park away in the next round.

Dorking were missing several first team regulars, as were Epsom, Dorking captain Roy Newman missing the match following Saturdays jaw injury. A goalless first half saw the deadlock broken on 65 mins by Epsom, but straight from the kick off Dorking equalised through Lester Boniface

Both sides had chances to win the game, but it was Dorking who progressed, a cross finding Dan Bennett on 85 minutes, Chicks leading scorer going round the Epsom keeper to win the game for Dorking.

Chicks play Crescent Rovers in the league for their first league game in 3 weeks on Saturday, the game kicking off at Meadowbank at 3pm with kids being admitted for free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Team for Epsom game:

1 Dan Coote

2 Jon Tyler

3 Alex Hill

4 Scott Harrison

5 Aaron Leathingy

6 Dan Clayton

7 Lester Boniface

8 Victor Donker

9 Phil Page

10 Simon Cassidy

11 Dan Bennett

12 Gary Fennessy

14 Martin Waldren (on for 3)

15 Dan Lawrence (on for 8)

16 Jesse Davis (on for 10)

17 James White

It was a dour game indeed, all three goals were down to poor defending too. It picked up in the last 20 minutes but very poor quality up to then.

A few of our fringe lads had a chance to press a claim to the shirt tonight and let themselves down, but fair play to Dorking, they took their chances and just about deserved to go through.
