Surprised at that-i thought we were better than that unless we had a particularly young side and deal played some first team players.

Not a good start this season for the reserves-which is surprising as whilst young, in the main, there seem to be alot of last seasons squad who did well (and indeed many are in our first team squad !!).

I assume the reserves are still being managed/coached by MW.

its still early though and margate have definately 'got talent'.

Can someone who knows give us an info on this apparent New Zealand international that was on show last night. Also the coloured guy that played tonight that I have been informed has tremendous speed & ability.Any names to these two?

Don't know the names, Maybe we never will as is the way with trialists. The reputed New Zealand International was a big blond centre back, and looked useful. The black guy was, well how can I best describe his pace. Half way line attacking the Hartsdown rd end, ball played forward past(by Gate) a Deal defender, defender had a 10 yard start and wasn't hanging around as he had experienced our trialist a few minutes earlier. The trialist gave chase and caught him up level with the box, going just passed and took the ball before the bye line, putting in a good cross. As quick as anyone I have ever seen.

From what I saw the big Blond lad looked OK.

We gave away to many free kicks in dangerous positions first half.

I only managed to stay for the first half as i had family commitments.

Nice to see Paul Lamb at Hartsdown, he was warming the Deal lads up. If Paul is coaching know he certainly has them playing his way. No comprimise when it comes to the tackle.

BroadstairsDave was also at the game, maybe he can give us his opinion, as first half we had more than our share of chances. Their keeper, Danny Twyman, I believe, did well to keep a clean sheet. It was in the latter position that size and experience really did made a difference.

Agree with Blueblood re the players he picked out, but there were too many trialists perhaps to expect a solid team performance. Having said that great enthusiasm and running by everyone and calling for the ball. Only difference in the two sides was Deal took their chances well most of them and Margate didn't tho the speedy no 9 caused havoc. Credit to the Deal defence they played him fairly tho I did expect someone might clatter him it didn't happen while I was there.Left just after 9pm when it was 0-3 so no further goals in the last 30 minutes.

Must admit both the trialists looked very good, as did most of the team.

In fact I came away shaking my head in disbelief. How could a team dominate a game SO MUCH and come away losing 3-0 ?

Just guess that's football! and the fact that Dan Twyman was in goal for Deal. Although for all our pressure and good football we didn't really test him that often.
