U18 away to Borden Village

Margate U18's started the league with a comfortable 5-1 win.

The first half was a tight affair with both sides having blatent penalty shouts turned down by the over enthusiatic ref. Margate finally took the lead with 2 minutes left of the first half with a towering header from left back luke Weatley.

The second half was a much more one sided affair with the 3 pronged attack of Dan Gonzalez, Sam cliff and Josh (surname) causing the borden defence with all sorts of problems with their pace and neat passing. Sorry if the order of these goals is wrong but Luke weatley scored his second of the game from another well taken corner by sam(surname). Sam himself then put an inswinging freekick wich missed everybody a nestled in the bottom right corner. Sam then with his 3rd assist put another great ball in the box after some neat work down the wing for Dan Gonzalez to head home from 6 yards. The fith was a goal which came from a long ball which Sam cliff controled beautifuly to find himself 1 on 1 with the borden goalie and finished neatly in the bottom corner.

The borden goal was a Tony Yeboahesk strike which came out of nowhere. Things became a little heated between parents as what lookid like an accident by margate number 4 resulted in a red card and a hurt borden player.

Very positive start to the season but i feel that borden will be one of the weaker sides this season. hopefuly i am proved wrong because on this performance margate looked like they could have a very good one.

I apologise for the lack of surnames and team but a lot of new faces and will take me a while to get the names

Well done U18's.

Thanks for 'report'

Interesting that a few of them played on saturday aswell for the reserves.

Only saw him once, but others also speak very highly of Wheatley.

(we have 17 year old Parkinson on loan as a right back-maybe Margate have a left sided defender as good, alot closer to home

Answering my own question above,i read that it is the FA Youth Cup on sunday, when Margate are away to Ringmere.

I think its the U18's who play in this.A competition of some prestige, so i'd really like to wish them all the very best and i hope by sunday night, we have had two margate teams beat sussex opponents and be in the next rounds of the FA Cup and FA Youth Cup respectively.

Do our U18's play Ebbsfleets PASE team at any time.

i read that Ebbsfleets U18's won their FA youth cup tie against redhill by 14-0 and it could have been 20-0.

Apparently Ebbsfleet U18's are rather good.

Would thus like to see Margate U18's play them and see how they do.

Are they on the 'fixture list does anyone know ?

Are'nt the U18's are at Ringmere in FA youth cup tomorrow.

I suppose Lamprell is probably in Ebbsfleets PASE team now.

I'm sure in 18 months with our behind the scenes structure, margate will have just as good a set up as Ebbsfleet and maybe even better.

I recall the 2 seasons ago the u16 which are now the senior u18 confortably beat gravesend twice. i would imagine there has been a big change there now. Long way to Ringmere tommorrow. If they go through next round is at home to Hastings UTD. Good luck to the boys hopefully can get a run to the first round proper.

At the same time and same place is the U14's match against Ramsgate.

A real hate match between the two sides who have alot of history between them (from previous clubs). this is the first time that they have played under the Ramsgate / Margate Banners

It would be great to get some fans there to support them

Its only a real hate game from the Margate side Im afraid Andy was it not the Margate Manager who said to his squad of 13 year olds he dont care what happens this season as long as they beat Ramsgate. Sad t-at its not about the managers its about the kids. If the truth be known its just sour grapes from the manager who would have liked to take his whole squad over but Ramsgate have open trials so he spat his dummy out and Margate took him on on block.
