open league

I have to endorse Lightweight's remarks about Basildon. The last couple of times I've been there the place was depressing with an air of real neglect; what a contrast when we went there in the league cup recently. I think great credit is due to the people at the club who have obviously put in a lot of effort and time to make the ground so much better; there certainly appeared to be an atmosphere of pride and confidence that reflects well both on the club and the league.

On the pitch I'm not sure that the great start can be sustained, but I'm sure they'll take great pleasure, not only in that start but in proving me wrong!

I genuinely look forward to my next visit to Basildon, but I'm pretty sure that the Romford side that next goes there will have a different look to the last one, and hopefully the result will be somewhat different too.

Yes, it's an open league this season and most teams are probably capable of beating each other. Enfield and Romford will, imho probably be the main contenders, but if Basildon can sustain their early form perhaps they will have genuine title hopes. Burnham seem to have suffered their usual funding conundrum, albeit earlier than normal. Barkingside continue to confound and Eton Manor's player exodus during the summer will surely see them struggle to repeat last season's achievements.

Bowers flatter to deceive and similarly Southend Manor have surprised me with their poor early season form.

I agree BT. But all the teams I have seen so far in the ESL (only a few but representative I'm sure) have impressed me with their fast open play.

Stating the obvious, of course, the most successful team/s at the end of the season are those that have the ability to create more goals out of these on-field performances.

What a silly boy you are CRFCB. On the contrary we seem to be picking up players from Aveley instead. So check your facts before making erroneous statements like that! evil

Perhaps you would be kind enough to point us all to the actual ruling on this in the FA handbook old chap!
