Attendances

Only 30 at Basildon Utd and 28 at Bowers & Pitsea yesterday.

Seems a shame that such a large catchment area could only drum up a total of 58 fans across two games.

Could be because we are spoilt for choice in the area for NL football.

crowds are up again this season at the Hive and lets remember we have lost the fathers of ashley, grant, reedy, parents of mike fentimann, parents and grandparents of bill balkwill, relations of antony, young joes father and various other relations who made up most of last seasons crowd.any idiot can get people to attend a match the secret is to play good enough football that they will want to return, going back 5 years brentwood and concord were being watched by 30/40 people look at the way their crowds have grown.mind you you're right about crisis club bowers their gate was shocking.

We are fast approaching winter, so what are these gentle souls going to do when it really does get miserable.

I suspect yesterday was a bit of a freak attendance wise, as neither Wooton Blue Cross or Mauritius Sports brought any fans with them.

Richard's point about some of the fans/family that supported the Bees last season is somewhat valid, but are all the new crop of players orphans? Perhaps the secret is to sign players with large extended families.

Basildon's gates are generally on the up, which is great for them but Bowers & Pitsea's attendance yesterday is a cause for concern.

And what a pleasure it was to be amongst those 30 on Saturday to see the good work achieved by the club in bringing the New Hive back to life again.

But I was puzzled by the number of Photographers present - were they included in the 30 ? I am sure there were a dozen dotted around the ground which , in terms of ratio of photographers to official attendance must be some sort of bizarre Essex Senior League record to add to the many that Basildon United hold ?
