Where on earth has this come from? Being an obvious member of the choir i can categoricaly say that we don't give any players any special treatment. I agree Peters hasn't looked that good this season, but i don't think he is a striker. The choir like other supporters wanted to see him play further upfield probably meaning in his natural right wing position opposed to the full back position he was playing last season. I am not aware of anyone saying that want to see him play upfront. Having said that it was a miracle that he didn't score atleast 1 today, i don't think the keeper has a clue about one of his saves.

I am very confused of where you got that info from though. However i agree with you about Coleman, he just doesn't seem bothered out there at all and is a lot lazier then Power

Quite right Alex Most wanted him further forward but not THAT further forward.I'll keep on saying it until I bore the pants of everyone,Peters is best when running at & taking on players. All too often at the moment up front his first touch lets him down.Running at players takes that problem away & anyway he has more skill in taking on defenders. We saw that last season coming from full back.

His talent, his FULL talent is being wasted & why BA can't see this is beyond me.We are not seeing the best of this player & its a crying shame.

SCS

Corbishley-Smith-Young-Gregory/Parkinson/Taylor

Peters-Wilson-Stubbs-Quain

Pratt-Power/a.n.other

W/D-W/D-W/D-W/D There are points to be won with this line-up. I'd put money on it!

I'd worry that Wilson and Stubbs would struggle against big strong central midfielders, if played in a flat 4 across the middle. Seen glimpses that these two aren't the strongest when fighting for the ball in the air. With the man deep it gives us more protection. Maskell or Smith. Or somehow trying to fit them both into a system.

Quain has done well off the bench this season. For now, I'd keep it that way. When he runs at players he causes problems. Tempting to think what he could do out wide for 90 minutes. Possibly worth a go next home game. Away from home though against anyone I think it's a good call to play the current system with any four from Smith, Maskell, Wilson, Stubbs and Morris.

Those who went to Harlow will have seen our system does work. Just when the lads are getting used to it, why change now? Ok we lost to a Hornchurch side heavily tipped to win the league, through two set piece goals. Hardly a 'back to the drawing board' result.

Its more a case of making slight adjustments rather than going back to the drawing board. P.Smith I agree does help matters. Trouble is how many times are we going be be blessed with his services?.

Yes it is a bit too early to be panicking & I'm sure that after those late positive 10/15 minutes yesterday BA will have them revved up for it at Toots on Tuesday & ready to carry on from where they left off.

I agree with Porkas view on the next starting line up for Tuesday at Tooting. The pace up front could cause problems but width is also needed with crosses being put in on a regular basis to create plenty of goal scoring chances. The finishing against Hornchurch was again dreadful the player power has never really figured in any game he has played for Margate and should learn to control his tongue whilst on the pitch, mind you this is probably what he has learned from half time talks by the manager with a mouth like a sewer, talking to the team in this way is hardly going to bring results, a certain amount of respect is needed on both sides. It is plainly obvious to everyone that a certain amount of experience is required in certain areas of the team, until this happens there is only one way the team will go, - and thats down .

So shedender as you are present at these half time talks we can take it as read that the [****!!****] that eminates about him in you post also comes from the same sewer?.

All I can say is at Chatham when Barry sat with us in the second half my wife commented on the fact that he did not use one swear word (not even a bl00dy). She was impressed by his manners.

As ITH has pointed out yesterday was all about the wind. In reality we lost the game in the first half when we failed to make the most of it. Forget playing football, we should have just concentrated on long throws and high crosses aimed at the penalty spot (though with Power on the bench we would have lacked someone beefy to attack the ball). Playing against the wind is when you get the ball on the deck.

Games at Hartsdown are often played in very windy conditions, in fact, it seems, increasingly so as the years go by, so we need to adapt better in future.

Just to add my twopennyworth,i agree with Porka that wholesale changes don't work and are not needed;and whilst i rate everything that BA has done, the Peters situation is beginning to grate.

Like Cookie-and even away supporters in UU- everone seems to be of the opinion Peters is wasted as a striker-he is not a striker-but as Cookie et al keep saying-is at his best running on to the ball.

I believe we need 4 in midfield-but am just begiining to wonder whether you can play 4-3-2-1 with Pratt and Peters just behind Power.I don't like to lose a player to midfield, but Corbishley comes up field to make a 4 man midfield at times, and it just means that Wilson,Stubbs and Smith/Maskell have to give us just trhat little bit more aswell-a tough call for them as they are doing well, but i think we need more than Peters as a striker and so Pratt needs a chance .

We witnessed yesterday how half way through first half, Peters blasted a shot first time into the rear stanchion.A striker would have side footed it at a lower height.May not have scored either, but someone confident in their goalscoring credentials would not have just blasted it.

My team wouold be:

SCS

Corbishley, Smith Young Gregory

Maskell or Smith

Stubbs Wilson

Peters Pratt

Power

A few idle observations re:yesterdays game, where generally i can't add much to whats previously posted;and as Iris TH posted-wind-what wind-the players need to get used to it as it is a very exposed ground at HDP so there will be plenty more games like that i am afraid-and yes-the wind did spoil it.However, the conceded goals were more due to defensive lapses than the wind

having said that, i think our improvement in the last 20 mins was due to a combination of having the right formation up front in Power, peters and pratt, combined with the wind dropping for the last 20 minutes-if only it had dropped at half time

You could sense the danger that Hornchurch would be at free kicks/corners as early as their first one in the fifth minute which i thimnk narrowly missed. You know you have a proble whewn you have three big Hornchurch players queuing up to win the header and that as centre forward, one of the players strolling back and lining up to help defend the aerial attack is Coleman-not known for his aerial prowress -how we did not concede to a header in the first half amazed me.

Overall, whilst no-one in midfield played poorly, i don't think either Wilson or stubbs played quite aswell as previously, Maskell was finding his feet;and thus in the first half, we did not command midfield and thus did not make the chances.

Notwithstanding the above-it could have been worse yesterday-one of my pet hates is when you lose, and then the players, manager, supporters bleat on about 'taking the positives'.

Well breaking my own rules-we did not get stuffed-and i thought there were genuine positives:

-we did not capitualte when going 2-0 down.

-Taylor had a good game.

-Power did more than ok when he came on

-no obvious injuries.

-surely BA has now seen that neither Coleman or Peters are`strikers;and that Power and Pratt are-and make the difference.

-there were reprtedly over 500 spectators there (looked less than that to me but still)

-most supporters showed their appreciation of the team at the end of the game (not quite so sure if that would have been the case if the last 20 mins had not been like seige of the alamo )

In addition:

Corbishley will be fit soon .

the programme was good

we are still in the FA Cup for another 6 days at least.

Cookie-I agree with your team selection,I have had the same thoughts for a while now and its good to see that you agree. With BA's experience and knowledge when he has an injury free squad to select from I am sure that a team will emerge very similar to yours. We havn't seen enough of Maskell yet but if he's as good as some people say then he could be in there as well.

The lads have generally done very well so far.In every game except Canvey we have been in with a shout and it only needs a few small changes to go on a winning run.

At the end of the day most of us are happy with the way things are going but the problem is our strikers are not scoring , thats what they are there for at the end of the day . Its great that we have a selection problem as to who we put in midfield but if we are not winning or scoring then maybe its time to work out why . Im sure BA will work on it but we can`t expect Danny Young to score every week , it would be great if he could but its not expected of him its the boys up front that have the feet and the means to score . I would play Ryan behind the front 2 just to see how it would work, if its not then go back to the plan that BA seems to have now . The goals will come but its when they come , the longer they take the more pressure they will feel sothe sooner the better . Up the Gate .

I didnt realise he was a reserve player at Ramsgate. He signed for the first team when he went there. Lee is a very accomplished and reliable player. Based on the last three years that I have seen him play he will turn into a very popular and well respected player this season. Saturday was about getting him match fit and used to the other players.Going back to his 'reserve' status, thats nothing more than stupidity or poor judgement on the part of the manager/coach who made that decision. He is never that standard of player in any club at this level. The next few games will prove my point. Also I would say that when a player from a higher league drops back( hopefully before going forward again) a level or two it hits both confidence and fitness immediately. W
