Player of the month

The Player of the Month poll is linked directly to the the squad list in our database but (after last year's strange voting at times) we do look out for suspicious voting patterns and make adjustments for them.

The squad list is interesting, and is as we knew in the main.

Interesting that Beresford is detailed, yet Kenny Pratt is not,yet KP has made at least two sub appearances.

One trusts that KPratt is minimally registered with the Ryman league.

Not suggesting that KP would win p' of month, but some might say that he has had a significant impact-won the header for DY to equalise at Harlow, and his cross that Danny Stubbs narrowly put wide with his flying header at home to Hendon would probably win 'cross of the season';so maybe he ought to be on the list of players who qualify for p.of month

I didn't notice that MM. Good point.

I do think, despite the list being direct from the data base that those on that list who have NOT played a significant part could be omitted somehow. Am not a computer wizzard but there must be a way surely.

There will ALWAYS be a vote for one of those non-players & therefore it will be a wasted vote,a vote that could go to another who has taken part & probably deserves an extra vote.It could be the difference of winning the vote or coming second.A truer picture so to speak.

We all know what occurred last season therefore if those who have not played a part whatsoever on the pitch were to be omitted it would be less likely to cause a fuss or need investigating,I would have thought.

Of course player of the month might include off pitch activities & in that case a player of that type(non player but doing something worthwhile for the club)might be worth inclusion, but in the main I think its safe to say that its on the pitch form that we are talking of here.

I'm sure it is but we had this problem last season too. Really & truly speaking those on that list that have not taken part should just be ignored I suppose.Lets just hope that some people don't vote stupidly or selfishly.

So maybe the form or whatever is used to elect player of the month should be fully indicative of all the qualifications required?

This is getting complicated!

To some of us this may not be such a big deal but for the players it might well be & quite rightly in their eyes too. They are the ones busting a gut out there on the pitch. It would just be nice to have a fair result that's all.Hopefully that will be the case anyway.

How about having a straightforward vote for player on the pitch and then, at the end of the season, a further award for the player who has contributed most to the club, whether it be regular attendance at training sessions, PR work etc? The latter could be awarded by the management and decided on strict documentation of what the winner has done.

Now that's an excellent idea Gary....excellent!

Going back to the poll for P.O.T.M how about the club asking for nominations prior to the final vote.(say 2 weeks). The total nominations might only include 3 or 4 players. If that be the case just put THOSE up for the final vote.

Does the player of the month actually get anything for the accolade. I would think that a small trophy wouldn't cost much, particularly if all 10 were purchased at the same time. If so why isn't it awarded on the pitch prior to a home game like other clubs. Food for thought.
