Taunton On Saturday

Just received this from my counterpart at Taunton.

You may be aware that a severe weather warning has been issued for the south west of England for tomorrow (Friday) with a possibility of 50mm of rain in 18 hours. I am no expert on matters of a meteorological nature but it sounds like we are in for one hell of a downpour!!

 

I hope this will not have an adverse effect on our pitch with regard to Saturday's game but it is only fair to warn you of what we may be in for.

 

If necessary I shall go to the ground on Friday evening or first thing Saturday - I shall keep you posted.

Might be worth checking before heading off on Saturday. I'll post any updates as soon as I have them and feel free to ring me on Saturday if you need an update.

hi there gary and all the wea looks foul with servere wea warnings for parts of the south and south east ext with the eye of the heaveast rain looks suprize suprize looks like being over taunton and sumerset suprized not rearly still autham and winds and rains aproaching so folks be prepeared for a tue night game and any updates on here

i feel if tauntons ground can take a heavy battering if can or will just flood after torrentiol thndery and windy wet weather

first bout of rain steamed through somerset and into wiltshire into berks bucks as we speak with quiter but still chance of heavy showers and weather warnings for the south west poss any time today and obviously some heading north and some heading are way also anytime dou dou ow dou

still does not boad well maybe speak on here this eve take care all

still hope within hope for tommrow but looks like at the best most of us traveling will get wet and blown about at the time being

Still raining here in not so sunny Staines, although I see on the Met office radar that in Taunton it looks like most of the rain has moved through for now.

I watched the South West local news on Sky and a lot of it was about flooding on quite a lot of roads. Apparently 50mm fell in 12 hours.

 

The earlier the better for news, would be good. Especially for us longer distance travellers.

PcVEx rebel now living just outside Taunton!! Hope the gamon tomorrow but the rain is very heavy here at the moment.

Since moving to Somerset I haven't been to footie games as everyone is into Rugby - but will make tomorrow my first game.

Great to hear from you, hope the game's on too, but having looked at the met office I'm not so sure it will be. They're forecasting another heavy down pour at about 1am in taunton, followed by sporadic showers until around 1pm when - guess what?! - it'll chuck it down again for 4 hours... not looking good...

hi all just came back from a duck pond of a water polo game at york rd maidenhead

arr 1930 del a long time by trains being del can here there and every where suprized to see lights of stadiom from railway station beeming accross ground and a great looking pitch

sadley looking tawn in places should the second half had started

oh well me mike and kieth watched the thrilling water polo style game FT maidehead 3- 3 newport c (match abandened a draw 56 min)

and wet 75 bus ride home on time and walk

 

del trains (buses not showing up) meal abandend at baron co dughan caversham no chief(train can 30 wait and above

what a dramatic day and poss more to come

 

realy unsure and doutfull about tommrow

there is water all over the place worst surely in wales

hi there no warnings or updates on the match today on there website so maybe looking shortly for pitch inspectins should be early due to long traveling distence or has the pitch servived hope has servived dry here but dodgey rain bareing risky looking clouds looming in berks-bucks area

now down to luck and only small amounts if any rain certanly not needed in some parts of wales and south west including somerset
