Sorry, using the premiership was a bad example, but I was referring to the standard of football as opposed to the money. I play rugby and I'd rather play at a higher level than drop a level and get paid more. It is an honour for me to pull on the shirt of my club and I pull it on because of the club and the level they're playing at, not because I'll get a nice fat brown envelope at the end of the game. As I said, these modern day mercenaries would play for a pub team in a local park if they were getting paid for it.

 

If these players need the money so badly then perhaps they should change jobs. They won't be playing football for ever.

 

Anyway, I have no issue with Mr Day putting his money into Chertsey and getting the best players and I think it should make other teams/players raise their game against Chertsey. From what I've heard and seen this season, it seems like the other clubs don't have the b*lls. I guess some teams will/have resorted to trying to kick them in the air. This doesn't make pretty football. I for one, love being the underdog (which hasn't been the case for several years now!).

 

Mr Day is a businessman and running a football club is not a get rich quick thing, so he is obviously looking to the long term. I just hope the his players have the same mentality, but as I now realise, there is no loyalty at this level.

 

As for the club websites; I didn't say Chertseys was the best, I just think it's very comprehensive and you can learn about the players and staff. For instance on the Bedfont site from what I can see, I can't even tell who the manager is!

Heard a cracking rumour on Tuesday.

 

Berbatov boards a flight to Manchester to be picked up by City to go to Eastlands to thrash the deal out. He arrives at Manchester to be met by Ferguson. Ferguson tells him to get in the car as he is joining United. Ferguson then rings Levy when they arrive at Old Trafford and tells him that Berbatov is in his office and wants to join United and there is nothing Levy can do about it.
