Slough Town FC v Abingdon UPDATES

Good game of football, especially in the first half. The team look like they are bonding, and we passed the ball well.

Of course, we had our usual 25 minutes of backs to the wall.

There were a few odd decisions as well. A penalty for a foul on a player that was offside. A yellow card for kicking the ball away BEFORE the whistle had been blown for a free kick.

Anyway, let's hope we can keep that going for the rest of the season now, and get our first away win at Taunton, exactly like we did last season.

Well done to all the players

Good performance from the team last night with some excellent goals being scored. The only down point (apart from the inept Ref) was when we were put under the cosh for periods in the second half when the midfield went missing.

Thought Harper was excellent and probably my mom closely followed by Platt for his goals and Jordan for his workrate.

Have to mention the stupidity of the Ref again. I've never seen a Ref, after a goal had been scored, pick the ball up from the goal mouth and run to the centre spot.

Difficult to show RESPECT to idiots like him who are supposed to be seen as neutral at all times.

it seems to be that the team is gelling together and working together more even without Pritchard (get better soon).

good to see platt scoring and hopefully that will continue, now we just need DJ to score and then we might see slough scoring 5 goals in a game more often.

Bit surprised that Luke Evans was made captain on only his SECOND match for slough but he did very well.

the only reason why the ref picked up the ball and ran to the centre was Becoz two players from each team where fighting over it, slough to waste time and abingdon to start quickly to score again.

If we keep on playing like this then we can definetly be mid table if not higher.

My, but that was good fun. So pleased for Matt that he scored two well-taken goals and DJ and Bubb also looked committed. Bubb in particular was on fire in the first half.

Terry Butcher aka Dean Harper was immense last night, Fenton and McConigley also had good games and Luke Evans looked to be solid again (though I too was surprised to hear he'd been made captain).

Jacko was great again (aside from one minor slip up, but it's the first he's made for bloody ages so we'll let that go) and it was nice to see Lee Riddell back on the pitch and actually developing quite a few nice passes.

Spoke to Pritchard in the bar - looks like its 7-21 days out though he thinks he'll be back sooner rather than later.

Many congratulations lads, you thoroughly deserved that last night - here's hoping we can take the same attitude and work rate to Farnborough and Taunton.

With regards to captain I think Sweets made the right choice. Pritch leads by example, but is not too vocal. Daly on the bench and I think the captaincy has not helped Rids over the end part of the season and the start of this.

Seems like a natural leader to me, much like Daly is.

Ah!I have been waiting for the first silly comment and you even beat Roger !
If you have been following my posts you will have seen that I highlighted the need to replace Daly at centre back and also I suggested that the right side of midfield was inadequate-this I think you will find is exactly what the manager fixed-and I never posted after the FIRST WIN because I did not want to HIGHLIGHT how so very right I was.All he needs to do now is get a bit more height and strength where necessary and we could win a few games.

No Ashby, he should be made Chairman - we cannot lose all that knowledge and insight RWG has - but we should put him on a contract in case the FA come looking for a replacement to Brian Barwick or that they may need a new England manager in the next couple of weeks.

RWG is a god - no he is THE GOD!!! we should get down on our knees before every game and pray to the RWG and bring offerings of burgers and hot dogs so we can sit and listen to his thoughts and teachings - I have seen the light and it is RWG
