Great cup game & as I predicted Platt came good!

 

Some good shots taken well and almost one of the quickest goals ever from a shot from Bubb at the kick off.

 

There penalty should never have been as the player was well offside before he was fouled and this was confirmed from behind the goal and along the side.

 

A very good team performance and some soild prompt closing down of players that made a big differance - well done the boys.

Yay, look forward to Farnborough. Should take a few there as well and make some noise!!!

 

As for the game very strange. First-half we battered them pretty much, but they did look threatening everytime they came forward. Anaclet was causing our defence some problems.

 

Played some really good football and the partnership of Platt, DJ and Bubb looked great first-half.

 

Not sure what happened for 25 minutes in the second-half as they controlled the game, first to every loose ball and came close on several occassions. Thought it was ganna be another one of 'those' matches.

 

However two late goals from Platty killed the game off.

 

I'm sure everyone will mention Bubb and Platt, but I thought DJ worked his socks off up front and deserved to score. New signings fitted in well and Fenton had a very good game at the back.

 

Overall, promising signs hopefully!

Ok Stainesy i said i would post and let you know what i thought ( see supporters unrest thread ) this is obviously the most appropriate place . Front trio worked very hard looked very promising , defence is shaping up despite a few lapses , never a penalty so should have only been one conceeded . Midfield has to stay on top and not go awol but more games together should see it become a tighter ship ! Very , very pleasing to see , more hard work on the training field and Farnborough can start worrying :-) .... there is that positive enough for you ? my boys loved it, the older one remembers Walsall and is getting all excited , me ? I just say one game at a time but the vibes are good !! :-)

Spot on assessment from Boxy, Platt's goals were exceptionally well taken and he looked very relieved and delighted to tuck those away.

 

DJ was tireless and really, really deserved a goal. Some of his touches, particularly taking down the long ball are different class.

 

Nice to go to Farnborough for a "big" game but firstly lets hope we can carry this form into the league on Saturday.

Decent game, good to score 5 goals, and get a couple that didn't come from the front 3 too. Every player worked really hard tonight and did well.

Looking forward to Farnborough will be a big game and win or lose a decent cheque will come to us from the gate reciepts, would expect 500 or 600 people there at least, to go with the

Agree with you Bobby, had my boy there too today and he loved it, we now need to get some consistancy, and even have a little run in the cup and then the confidence will naturally come together.

 

Those who stayed under the cover 2nd half were all praying for DJ to have some luck and score, but it is yet to come - however the feeling was when he does start scoring there will be no stoping him.

Brilliant - well done you Rebels! It's great to be reading about us netting five. Despite the season ticket in my wallet I won't be able to come to a game until late Oct.
