Hendon v Billericay

Hmmmmm....a difficult one this. Hendon has never been the happiest of hunting grounds but mainly because of our own lack of "bloody minded" attempts to kill the game off. On our previous visits we have been 2 zip up and allowed them back...been 1 nil down and struggled to pull the equaliser back and then failed to convert gilt edged chances to nose out in front. I can only remember one comprehensive win there where we won 3 - 1 (after being 1 down) and the weather (and pitch was awful (hey, it pouring down at the moment...we could be lucky tonight). In each visit, Hendon have been strong on pace up front attacking down the wings and cutting in. If memory serves their players will give the ball a clout in and around the area (they've never been afraid to have a shot, on or off target) and they have always caused us problems early on in the game. They also like to rough up the midfield...but in defence...they've always been suspect, in my opinion.

Like any other game away from home, we have got to be on our toes defensivley but if we play to our strengths and if the pitch allows us to pass the ball (come on lads, you know you can), I think we can do well there...now I've "murrayed" it, I'll pick my team...

I'm suspecting that the injury situation has not improved so I'll go for the following

Buckfield

Marron, Macca, Clarey, Dumas

Hunter, Shave, Wareham

Fergusson, Burbridge, Bricknell

Subs: Flack, West, BWG, Henry (if fit - bugger knows if not) Worster

I think Neil Marron has showed that he is more than capable of doing the job on the right of defence and I would think that his strength, tireless running and doing the simple things right will stop the flow from the right. If required and if possible, I would like to Westie cover the Burbridge position. We've tried in him defence and up front for both the first team and the reserves and I think he has done better up front. He holds the ball up well and has made those headers that feed the strikers off him...

Score...Well, we rarely show our "bloody minded" personality as a team, which is a shame and Hendon are no push over....I'll go for a draw.

Agree with Marron starting at RB, but would definately have BWG in the 11, with Burbs on the bench.

How you play BWG & Fergie with Billy, I'll leave to the more knowledgeable.

Fair point. Out of interest, what's the thinking behind Buckfield starting ahead of Worster? If Ronnie is first choice why artificially extend his ban beyond the 3 games imposed by the FA? Does it make any difference if Jacks first game was Carshalton last Saturday or Harrow this Saturday (which is when Ronnies 3 match ban commences, I believe)?
