Terry Angus was an excellent defender - real class apart and had an awesome season in97/98. After our demise he went back to Nuneaton and was still plying his trade up until fairly recently.

Danny Bolt was a left sided player, popped up with quite a few goals over his time at the club.

Hi Gary , i can fill in some of those missing names for you straight away , Delahunty i am sure is Simon who also played / managed Beaconsfield / SYCOB , Randall would be Bobby a goalie , has a twin called Jim but not sure if he made a full Rebels line up ? The missing Kiely i think must be Terry , Smyth would be big Dave , Wesson has got to be Peter Wesson i was at Britwell Rockets with him as kids , a very tricky skilful winger , sadly i am pretty sure he passed on a while back , also was a very useful cricketer . I remember two Dohertys , Tony & Mickey . Tony Thompson should be easy is he not the youth team manager now ? Bruce Poynter is another old footy pal , think he may still live near my mum , will try to get details for you . John McLeod i see around quite a bit & will ask him & about his buddy Colin Keys who i think is in Bracknell area now . Colin Landeg is in the Windsor area and manages Windsor Royals ( U 11 s ) will be in the local footy directory when it comes out , my nipper is in the same age group at Beaconsfield i could always ask him when they play if no-one fills you in before ? I know Joe Maloney & Devon Petty ( also a Dolphin F.C. superstar ! ) if i bump into them i will ask , should also have a programme somewhere that will have some info will let you know , last time i saw Vaughan Powell he was working in Dundee Road Mars , any Rebels fans working there may be able to find out ?

Bobbys Hatt, sorry to hear about the passing of Pete Wesson. I played with him in the school team for Claycots junior school on the Britwell. Yes, he was a very speedy skilful player.

Don't think he went on to Warrenfield, where I went to but I might be wrong. I think most of the good local players went to Warrenfield and mainly played for Coopers. Some of the names I remember were: John Fielding, Graham Togwell, Alan Coleman, Tony Smith, Peter Cannon.

Hi Gary , I am going to post these names here because a line up with 3 players that captained England in it is a bit unique , i am sure you will agree ?

Ian Wolstenholme ( goal ) Joined the club in the close season of 1970 ,from Enfield ,a native of Bradford he made 2 apps. for York City as an amateur , once saved 3 penalties in one match playing for Sheffield F.C. , England international .

Ian Reid ( defender ) A captain of England with around 30 caps to his name , joined from Hitchin , previously with Enfield . won amateur cup medals with Crook Town against Enfield in '64 and for them against Skelmersdale in '67 .

Keith Mead ( defender ) A native of Southall where he played , joined Slough after 3 seasons at Walton & Hersham , England international .

Mickey Bell ( defender ) was a member of the team that knocked Hendon out of the F.A. cup in '69 , an amateur at Ipswich where he made combination apps. during Sir Alf Ramseys time as manager .

Alf D'Arcy ( defender ) Captained the Rebels until '71 when on the arrival of Roger Day he was appointed as assistant manager , had joined from Enfield in the close season of '70 , previously with Barnet for 11 years . Around 30 international caps , was another to captain England i believe and also made at least 8 apps. for Great Britain , won Amateur Cup & championship medals . In the Rebels Wembley appearance he was 38 years old !

Roger Day ( midfield ) Probably one of amateur soccers best mid-fielders , joined from Enfield near the end of the '71 season taking over the captaincy from Alf D'Arcy , a regular member of the international side , he already had 3 Amateur Cup medals when he joined .

Ray Hill ( midfield ) Another to join from Enfield during the close season of '70 , after 4 years with them where he won Cup & championship medals , previously was with Cheshunt .

( Gary this may be the ??? Hill you are looking for )

Terry Reardon ( midfield ) Need i say more ? .... RWG !

Mickey O'Sullivan ( midfield ) A product of Spital Boys Club in Windsor , small but fast & strong & surprised many a taller marker by outjumping them !

John Connell ( forward ) Another to come to the club from Enfield in the close season of '70 , Republic of Ireland international , Cup & league medals , over 20 goals for the Rebels in 70 / 71 .

Joey Adams ( forward ) yet another that joined from Enfield at the same time ! , you got the manager and the players followed !

Joey was a classy international , with Cup & League medals , had scored 30 goals the previous season season but a nagging instep injury reduced him to around 20 in 70/71 had the sort of shimmy that sent the crowd the wrong way !

David Swain ( forward ) joined pre-season ( 70 ) from Wealdstone , had played against the 'stones for Hendon in the '66 A.C.Final , had over 15 goals in 70/71 and i believe he scored in every round as the Rebels unluckily failed at the semi - final stage .

Timmy Turl was just a youngster breaking into the side after arriving from Enfield , John Hobbis was a another 19 year old coming through from the reserves after arriving from Watford juniors , very quick player . Ian McPhee had left for Maidenhead the season before but soon learned the error of his ways ! returning to challenge for a starting spot at centre back , where he had represented Glasgow Schoolboys .

Apologies for that bit of indulgence ( mostly " lifted " from the prog from the Valley game 20th. March 1971 ) hope some of it may help ?

Guest Britwell Boy

RWG, firstly congratulations on registering. Just wondering, as i read in an earlier post about your uncle, did he ever play against Souness while at Wycombe? I might be barking up the wrong tree though.
