Well done Broxbourne

Recommended Posts

Well I used to live in Enfield, which is close to Broxbourne, so guess it's ok.

Willo, fk the keeper bit, wish my boy was a centre forward, easier on the ticker sometimes, mind you that dislocation he had by the way the week before the 6-0, done the same shoulder a year later at...Ampthill again, fkin place, then this season popped the other one out tho it went straight back in v Stony, and when I say why not become a centre forward, well they say keepers have to be a bit of an odd case, he wants to carry on between the sticks.

And you can't this time around blame the parents LOL

Ref Off Ref - Sorry to do this to you old chum but here's a reminder of that infamous afternoon for your Club and your son:

Saturday 17 November 2007

Spartan South Midlands League Division 1

New Bradwell St Peter 0 Kentish Town 6

Kentish Town extended their unbeaten run to eight games when they travelled to in form New Bradwell St Peter on Saturday.

With what must surely be the performance of the season so far, not only for the scoreline but Town’s all round team performance, that even had the home supporters applauding them of the field at the interval and again at full time.

Milton Keynes based outfit New Bradwell themselves had not been beaten in the last nine league matches however were no match for Town from the outset and as early as the the fifth minute Paul Butler stole in to slot the ball into the net. The writing was on the wall for the home side as Town settled the better and continued to dominate proceedings, they were already in total control of the game when extending their lead on 15 minutes when goal machine Jonathan Donoghue rose the highest at the back post to beat the keeper with a looping ball that somehow came off his back.

The bemused home side had no answer at all to Town’s slick passing movements that had been perfected in training and found it virtually impossible to contain the constant wave upon wave of attacks on their goal, in the 37th minute they found themselves further behind when Thomas Looney fired in a free kick from just outside the box that beat the wall and find the bottom corner to give the keeper no chance to react.

The home side were clearly praying the Referee’s half time whistle to try and come up with an answer to Towns first half display, but there was still time for Town to grab their fourth in the second minute of first half injury time, Thomas Looney hit a ball from the far right into the box that sailed over the keepers head into the top left hand corner of the net.

The second half started much the same as the first as Town were soon knocking the ball around much to the continued frustration of the home side. It only took five minutes after the restart for Town to get a fifth goal when, following two attempts on goal were blocked by the home defence, Mark Doyle fired a fierce low drive into the bottom left hand corner to register his first goal for the Club.

Town were still in total command of the game with their defence soaking up everything that the home side could throw at them and completed the rout in the 63rd minute when Jonathan Donoghue grabbed his 15th goal of the season and Towns sixth of the game with a powerful shot to beat the keeper.

The major surprise for Town in an otherwise perfect afternoon was that Lee Scott didn't get on the score sheet but his non stop running and support play was a factor in a spellbinding team performance. Town made two changes in the last 15 minutes when Bradley Newall entered the fray to replace back to form Thomas Looney and Ben McMullen replaced the outstanding Roberto Quattromini.

Afterwards manager Frank Zanre said" from the start we were in total control and it was a great team performance from our defence, that dealt with their attacking threat, to our midfield that battled for every ball and our strike pairing that kept the home defence busy all afternoon" he added " we have a had some tough games recently and have shown great spirit".

Town face another tough challenge at home to high flying Stony Stratford Town at the Barnet Copthall Stadium on Saturday, kick off 3.00pm.

Town Team: Williamson, Butler, R Quattromini, T McMullen, Kanaris, Looney, Doyle, Fofana, Dawson, Scott, Donoghue.

Subs: B McMullen, Newall, Cole

Hi Richard - It is but I quite like the place, had you not been there before last night. They carried out a lot of work on the ground in 2004 and 2005 when a guy called Peter Theo arrived on the scene, he transformed the Club in a short space of time and rennovated the Clubhouse, built a stand and laid a new pitch which is still one of the best in non league football, I'm not sure if the groundsman Mick Darling is still at the Club but he's a miracle worker. Peter left a while back in, shall we say, shady circumstances and left Broxbourne high and dry however you can't knock him for what he did for the Club at the time and they also had a great team which reached the last sixteen of the FA Vase.

Tommy - Yes do you remember that Sport London e Benfica game lol, one of their players kicked you at half time and then tried to run into the dressing room which was still locked, it all kicked off and Willo the Cat unsurprisingly got involved.

Did you forget to unlock the dressing room door?

HTFCew - I'm not sure whether a League Official should be divulging 'Confidential' information on this Forum, aren't the League Minutes just intended for Officials of SSML Club's.

The pitch at Broxbourne was superb cliff, not sure if it will pass for step 4,strange situation with gaining access to the bar and ground, they need to sort that out.

LOL, its ok, saving grace for my son was that he was actually as I said injured the week before, had he been fit to play then sorry to say Cliff but for all your dominance I am sure he would have kept the score down to at least.....5-0.

Its a shame for whatever reason though that at this level one minute you are up there having a great time, then before you know a total turnaround, I enjoy grass roots though whatever, as a supporter obviously hate losing, but thats the game, but if you can't enjoy it then it's a sad day, but good days them though for Kentish and all involved.

We know what needs doing to get step 4 accrediation and its in hand.

Yes.. yours! Keep your better players together for a couple of years. Shame Burkey and Max have gone, could be the difference but up top and your keeper is where you need to improve
