How do you get to Tooting

According to yesterday's programme, the best route is to go via the Datford Bridge and then along the A2.

This seems to me to be well out of the way so has anyone got a better route to get there?

The obvious one is via the Elephant and Castle, but I would guess that this is jammed solid at that time of night.

So - who's going by car, and what route are you using?

Can't find any station nearby - Annie says Morden is the closest though there seems to be one called Mitcham which may well not be on the underground.

If you are driving then take the route you would use to Carshalton (only about 2 miles from thier ground).

Nearest Underground station Morden.

Or if going by train best bet train to East Croydon then (and you will like this you older ones) catch the tram to Mitcham (takes about 20 minutes) and 10 minute walk to the ground.

from upminster i would go along the a13 into london(travelling away from the commuters going home)

Onto the around the elephant and castle down to clapham common where you pick up the a24 down to morden way.

If not travel round the 25 to the junction after the m23 then travel as joseba says to carshalton etc.but i wouldn't bother with the m25 from upminster as you have too many problems on the 25 that time of night

From the South West: M25 junction 8, take the A217 northbound, this goes through Tadworth and Cheam. It's dual carriageway most of the way, although long stretches have a 40mph speed limit. This leads to a major roundabout with lights (Rose Hill). Take the third exit (Mitcham A217), this is Bishopsford Road and the ground is a mile further on. Go through two sets of lights, the road dips, and the entrance is on the right opposite a petrol station.

From the South: M25 junction 7, M23 then A23 northbound. Turn left onto the A237 after passing under a railway bridge at Coulsdon South station. Through Hackbridge and Beddington, then turn left onto the A239. Turn left again at lights by Mitcham Cricket Green into the A217, the ground is 800 yards on the left.
