I was going to go but watched 1st team instead. I think we have to wait a couple more weeks for a home game on a Saturday, not sure about floodlight.

A very young Margate side started the game slowly with Thamsmead being awarded a debatable penalty after a dubious handball from Ollie Gray after 15 minutes. Alex Krunic made a great save from the penalty with the forward tapping in the rebound.

 

A misjudged tackle on Ollie Gray then forced Margate to make a sub and bringing on Anthony Woodward (never played as a defender). The mead 2nd goal came from a long diagonal ball which went over Woodwards head and a great 1st time finish from their number 10 at a tight angle.

 

Sam Noble then got caught in possesion, inside his own half for the Mead's 3rd goal but was also a great strike from about 20 yards out of the reach of Krunic.

 

2nd Half then saw a drastic turn aroud from Margate, and a 442 formation which seemed to work better. Margate were the much better side in the 2nd half and were unlucky not to have scored two or three goals themselves, with Sam Cliff hitting the post midway through the half.

 

Overall a good second half performance and should be used as a building block towards the next game and throughout the season.Players that stood out today were Alex Krunic, Nick Treadwell and Olti Keci

Thanks for the report.

 

A young but at this level-relatively high quality team it seems to me,so a bit disappointed with the result.

 

Seems as though we did not get the rub of the green just the same,and omn another day, may have got a more favourable result.

 

Interesting that one of the triallists-Nick Treadwell-seems to be with the club and had a good game.

 

Where was our other summer signing-Chris Robinson ?

I am all for promoting the reserves, and i think some coverage in the programme shows that the club is dedicated in bringing on these group of youngsters.
