I dont usually single out players but Platt needs some words putting down.

He has ability but is so lazy that he might as well not have been on the pitch today - not chasing balls down, not going for headers. Of the few he went for most were from the Andy Deaner school of heading - badly timed, but on the very rare occasion he did put the effort in he did well and won the ball so he does have the ability when he wants to - but for 90% of the time there was not the effort or will to try.

Tackling and chasing balls down is the same as heading - good when he could be bothered.

Once he knew he was to be taken off he could not wait to get off the field and into the dressing room - no thought of staying and supporting the team.

Platt is a selfish player who will not work for the team and only plays when he can be bothered.

It is a pity that he did not play more pre-season games so that his selfishness could have been identified and a team player bought in to replace him.

I would not be bothered if he never played for Slough again.

I don't see what singiling out players on a public forum is going to do? It's hardly going to make him more motivated. If anything he'll think why do I bother?

I thought he did well today actually. Remember he's only just back from injury. His finishing was not very good but I thought his movement to get in those positions was very good.

Very harsh and unnecessary I think - the guy has played a couple of games and isn't fully fit.

I think he did well today, got into some good positions, like when he nipped in front of the keeper to reach the back pass. True his finishing was poor but I think it's a confidence thing. This is not going to help!

I my opinion he did not bother today - if he is injured still or not fit he should have not been on the park.

It was like playing with ten men and other players had to carry him - have not been impressed with him in any of the few games he has played - if he could not raise his game for the FA Cup what motivation does he have?

To nit pick we did play with 10 men when Prtichard went off soon after Platt was subed giveup

But there were many occasions when he was the last man to get back on side, failed to chase balls down, bottled tackles and headers, and fluffed too many chances on goal.

I dont feel he is a team player as he heads straight off to the dressing room when subed, and when the rest of the team put in solid committed performances as they knew it was a cup game, Platt stood out like a sore thumb.

It might be that he feels he is playing at a level below where he thinks he should be after his time at Crewe and that might be the problem?

Also think he has the ability to be a good player, but was ineffective for most of the game. If not fully fit should not be playing, we need someone to run their [****!!****] off, and play with passion. Platt and Jordan could be a great partnership but need better supply. DJ should be in the middle converting, not having to chase to the cornerflag to try and get the ball.

RWG how was the cigar? Am I the only one who thinks Bobby's Hatt and RWG are the same person?

Grandad hope you had a good trip back - on the hair front only one of Dereks new signings is going to boost our standings in the gel stakes, with Byron and Luke looking like they do not spike!

There may be more than one person posting under RWG, as RWG was saying that Dereks "hand picked players" were not up to it, but when I critisise one of the same players, RWG says I dont know any thing about players - that must mean that he rates one of Dereks "hand picked players" - I wish he would make up his mind!

Oh Staines you poor soul part of a footballers talent, make up etc, includes motivation and commitment.Yes I was certainly at the game but my synopsis of what went on I will keep to myself because a) it would go over your head and b)I wouldn't want to upset you any more.
Have you maybe thought about watching Netball instead.

Seriously I would be intrested in your assessment of where the team is now that 3 new players have been bought in and that the team is now playing against teams in their own league - not pre-season games. Todays game being a cup game I belive is an intresting measure as Abingdon had a good start to the season last year then trailed off at the end which would put them at roughly a similar level to Slough.

I think there are gilmers of hope but there will also be worrying games like North Leigh.

What do you think RWG?

My issue is thus:---------

Why didnt Attrell and Gray start today? I thought they both played very well last week.

Instead we played Bubb and Platt who both were lacking match fitness and would have been better saved for the final 30. I'll be honest i was not too impressed with the way platt just left, if he was 'carrying an injury' surely he should have been with Kev in the dugout getting iced.. I have never seen a player skip out of the dugout through the crowd and presumably leave unless as a show of petchalence? I may be wrong? And i hope he had a good reason to leave. However i see Platt as very very similar to anothjer old boy we saw today 'Jamie Brooks', i think he has a lot of talent and if/when it all clicks he could be a very good player...

I was surprised to see Brooks playing at this level TBH.

Platt's head dropped after he fluffed two good chances in the first half. Although there were moments where he performed brilliantly afterwards (there was a really sweet cross he made from the right wing in the second half)I would sugggest that for whatever reason, his heart wasn't in it in the second half.

If he is still struggling from injury - and that may well be the case - then perhaps he was on the pitch because the manager asked him to be.

This would explain the frantic conversations he appeared to be having with Derek half way through the second half, and if he was telling Derek he needed to go off and was being ignored, that may explain (although in my opinion, in no way excuse) his conduct when he left the field.

That aside, I still believe he shows a lot of promise and it's not worth the fans getting on his back just yet. If there are continued displays of petulance, fair enough, but let's not start attacking him because of what appears to be a badly-judged 20 minutes.

Platty has a rib injury and was touch and go whether he would play. Showed his committment to the club by becoming cup tied at the earliest opportunity. I thought he did quite well and was bit anxious to take shots in the first half when a bit more composure would have seen him score. I thought the entire line up was encouraging and we were frankly unlucky not to have wrapped the game up at half time.

Given the flooding I've just seen it will be touch and go whether we can play Tuesday but fingers crossed.
