gills fan in peace.

After going on many other boards, I have got the opinion that you Fleet fans dont really like gills fans or Gillingham FC.

Which is hard for me as Ebbsfleet are my 2nd team and I go to about 5-10 games a season.

And I was wondering why you dont like GFC, because we have respect for Ebbsfleet and many gills fans follow fleet scores and go to fleet games.

It just seems a bit unfair that you dont like us when we like you.

One fleet fan on a Swindon message board quoted ' Good luck agaibnst gillingham this sat and i hope you relegate them to league two where thay belong '. Although im not saying this isnt the opinion of every or even the majority of fleet fans, it still hurts to know that some of you find it good to see kent football doing bad.

GFC also feature the fleet in many of the matchday programmes, and we have huge respect for neighbour teams.

Thoughts??

Rightly or wrongly, I think it's a case of being tarred with the same brush, far as Scally in concerned. Also, up until recently there was the threat that Gillingham FC could be moving into Gravesham Borough. Imagine Charlton relocating to Rochester. Finally, in league standings 'The Fleet' are the second best team in Kent. We all aspire to being the best.

All those years ago when I was a schoolboy and Gillingham were a Championship/First Division team, out of the many who either followed the Fleet or looked out for their results, I don't recall one person ever proclaiming a dislike for Gillingham. If anyone had an opinion on Gillingham it was positive and I remember people being quite pleased when you were enjoying your cup runs.

 

We didn't really take much of an interest in the finer details of the way clubs were run and stadium plans so I can only presume that the animosity must be mostly to do with Scally.
