Just a thought but after seeing the wide range of Dover branded goods available in their club shop on monday i'm wondering if our own club shop has any plans to extend whats currently on offer.

I think this is an area that could be improved as the club seeks new avenues to raise much needed revenue.

Theres not exactly much beyond the basic woolly hat, baseball cap or club shirt.

I'd like to see a decent quality polo with an embroidered club crest or maybe a return of the fleeces we had in the conference days and maybe some items that may appeal more to the younger fans.

Are the club are missing a trick in marketing itself here?

I think part of the problem may be the cost of outlaying for stock. If you consider clothing in particular, to stock a poloshirt in any number in all sizes as just one item will cost some. Then multiply that by a few lines, and I think that may be where the problem lies. I must admit, when I went in the shop at the Cray match to order my new shirt (not yet received), I was startled by the goods on display. You are quite right ITH. Just go into any small specialist shop (after all, that's what a Club shop is) and look at the stock holding. No-one nowadays can afford to hold a large stock, just generally enough to give people options.

The answer I believe is to do just that, have enough to whet appetites, and hopefully of course sell those items. This does need a careful stock control system so that you can sell and update your stock regularly.

What is important, however, is that when a sale is made which involves the goods being ordered in the customer is given an accurate delivery time and this delivery time is met. The element of trust.

Oh, and I bought quite a few of those Down to Margate CD's and distributed them among my friends here in South East London.

I understand what you're saying Iris but they manage it down at Dover so it must be possible.

Maybe if they just hold a sample item and allow fans to order their own size through the shop, i know theres a polo shirt available to the players so why not to us supporters too?
