Bowers 2-1 Stansted

Recommended Posts

First Bowers goal was a great 12 yard header from a free kick after about half an hour. Bowers went 2-0 up when a free-kick from 20 yards went over the wall, hit the crossbar, and was then headed in from close range. Stansted scored neared the end but I was too busy talking to GaryMo to see what went on. In injury followed the obligatory challenge, handbags, and dismissal for the losing team.

The poor Stansted manager was left cursing refereeing decisions for the second game in a row but at least he was spared the additional pain of hearing Spurs were being beaten at home over the tannoy, like he was at Gardiners Close, which really irritated him at the time.

The most athletic part of the night's proceedings was Blanchy getting the ball from one of the floodlight pylons.

I certainly had the pleasure of Hookey's company, Blanchy, and it was also a pleasure buying him a Bud. I even said to you at half time "That unhappy face, you can tell you're married now." You're next in line for a beer, too, a week on Wednesday when the reserves play each other. wink

I was pleasantly surprised by the number of Bees who popped along. It's great that local rivalries can be left on the pitch. I was equally impressed with the crowd for a midweek game against a side not renowned for a large away following.
