Nice one AGMark.

Personally i think most of the events should just take place in the clubhouse, but the events have to appeal to the masses and should be on more of a regular basis. I notice that other clubs have bands performing in their clubhouse and they also have comedy nights amongst themed discos and other kind of entertainment nights. It's all good having quiz nights, but they should be every now an again as how many of you will go to a pub because they have a quiz night, i'm guessing not many. The reason why i suggest that most events take place in the clubhouse is because it is a lot more cheaper then hosting it at a different venue. This will also release some extra funds into advertising.

It will help the club more in the long run if you appeal to the masses rather then MISA members and forum members. Having said all of this i think MISA are doing a great job in helping the club out as much as possible, i hope it continues like this.

Am I correct in thinking that The Hartsdown is run as a separate entity?

If that is the case then it is up to them to decide what events take place in the clubhouse, although of course MISA could hire The Hartsdown at such times as they decide to put on their own events. If the Hartsdown is a separate venture it is then up to whomsoever runs that to make a profit by their own efforts and pay the usual fees to their landlord, thus helping the club overall.

I think we should remember that MISA is a supporters' association and not an entertainment promoter as such. And there is nothing to stop anyone promoting an event of their own and, given the blessing of whomsoever is going to benefit from it, donating profits to that body is there?

I also happen to believe, as I have stated before on another thread, that it would be a good idea for events to take place at other venues where possible in order to take the club out to other parts of the area. Again, a sort of roadshow.

When the likes of Enter Shikari (Google it) turn up at the Hartsdown, the masses will flock and the choir will then be at the front!

Is that different to enter Shakira? I suspect the coffers will be overflowing...

There's nothing like a good bit of trancecore to wake up to! Or rave metal, postpunk harcore, whatever you wanna call it.

The clubhouse is an ideal venue for 'intimate' gigs, but as Drummer has mentioned the clubhouse is not controlled my MISA, I shall certainly be taking my ideas to the bar manager though, the profits all go to the club afterall.

I think the key is to tap into the market outside of the football club, whilst still promoting events within the club of course.

I wonder if Wellsie has any Enter Shikari in his collection, we could have a mini rave on the terraces, dinosaurs and all grin

Elvis who? wink

Just purely out of interest, i've emailed a few of the larger promoters to see what bands would charge for one off gigs, I shall get back to you with the replies.

Whilst we are talking music, the new AC/DC album is superb! Now there is some rock dinosaurs I have time for!
