It's Windsor actually - would have found out if you were there tonight.

What has he done my my poor STFC official website banner!

Would have been nice if he'd have asked if he could have used the banner at all!

Did you copyright it? Approx 25 slides with it on, to a public audience, 5p a slide * 150 ppl = money for the website! Hurrah!

BOSSWEBB, yes Mr Deaner had done a deal with Harrow because he needed to ensure that, had we got promotion, we would have had an A-grade stadium. Since Windsor's was checked the day AFTER the deadline (as I recall), (and ironically got the A-grading anyway), he had to do this deal with Harrow to ensure our survival.

So yes he did do a deal with HBFC. However, since we have voted unanimously to go to Windsor instead, Mr Deaner will lose a £6,000 deposit he placed with HBFC and we will instead play at WEFC at a cost of £25,000 p.a. compared to HBFC who were charging £20,000 p.a.

Why has he lost that deposit? Because he didn't ask the fans what they wanted in the first place.

It's easy to push up Windsor's figure to make it less appealing to try and go there. I'm sure a better deal could be worked out with Windsor if done properly.

I suppose you're right, why would WEFC charge more when they have poorer facilities? Maybe its because they saw themselves as the obvious choice for sharing and were keen to make a bit extra?

Mr Deaner made it quite clear that if we wanted to exist as a club we had to have a ground share in place by 31st March. At this date Windsor did not have an A grade, so if we had entered into a deal with them and had made promotion we would not have been able to go up. Yes Windsor now has the A grade so when we win promotion next year we will be OK,, but at the critical date it didn't. Would you have taken the risk of winning promotion and then throwing it away, oo don't you think our team is woth £6,000?

From the press release from the Windsor chairman (see Windsor Press Release):

Quote:
...It is my belief that both sides are now anxious to ensure that these arrangements work satisfactorily and, from the Windsor point of view, profitably.

A series of meetings will be set up over the next week or two and I hope that representatives of the Supporters will be involved in those meetings to ensure that any potential difficulties are resolved and that we are able to maximise the benefit from this groundshare for the enhancement of the Club and the playing side.

I trust it's not too naive of me to hope that Windsor will not over-charge us for the ground share.

The press release did not mention the £25k figure that has been revealed on this forum. It ought to be possible for Windsor to make a profit out of the arrangements without removing an unreasonable level of income from STFC.

How does the financing work? Presumably STFC get a proportion of gate income for their home games?

Usually, any agreed rental fee covers the full cost of using the ground for every home fixture, the landlord making further income from their bar and refreshment takings with the tenant taking all of the gate and programme money for their own fixtures.

All of the gate money and programme money will be held by Slough Town FC for their fixtures which take place at Stag Meadow. The agreement surrounding the advertising I'm not clear on, but the agreement with Harrow was that all advertising brought in by Slough would be kept by Slough. Hopefully something similar is in place at Windsor.

Firstly, the Windsor pitch is [****!!****]. It is not a pitch for footballers, just boot it and hope for the best.

Are they going to improve it ??

Secondly, Windsor were desperate for money. They would have taken far less than 25K plus bar money. We have mugged ourselves or it's not a true figure.

Thirdly, Windsor players were going to get their trophy bonuses when slough paid up for next season. Due to their [****!!****] run of late, they aint getting it and all palyers have been told to return their tracksuits.

Four, slough council are total [****!!****]. All the years they have been looking into it - They will build schools for people who want their own. Why do they allow this to go on.

Scouter, Gary, Thanks for the info.

When you state it like that it sounds exactly the same as playing at Wexham Park (ie paying a lease and keeping gate/programme/advertising money).

£25k works out roughly to £900 per home game, which at £6 per ticket only needs 150 supporters to cover the cost (ignoring players wages and other costs, of course, but it shows that the figure is not too outrageous).

Just for comparison, Bracknell Sports Centre charge £26 to hire an astroturf five-a-side pitch for an hour, so two pitches for four hours works out at £208. (OK, I know it's not quite the same thing, but again shows that £900 is not completely ridiculous).
