Shirt Auction

Recommended Posts

I've heard that it is taken place at the start of next season. Why is this?

Surely the reason most people would bid for one of this season's shirts now would be to wear it over the summer (and so Craig's sweat is still fresh...he's so gorgeous). I would have thought that not many people will want to bid for this season's shirt at the beginning of next season, when next season's shirts are released.

Yes, CF. This season's shirt sponsor, Lifetime Financial Management are to sponsor the match against Arsenal XI, and have asked that t'lads wear the current first team shirts.

Fair play to them.

Oh, by the way. Talking of shirts. Radio 5Live are running an appeal for old football shirts which will be sent to deprived children in Africa. Do you think that the Club should support this worthwhile cause and send in that awful sky blue Baldock strip?

No, I was referring to Craig.

Surely the Arsenal XI match is a pre-season friendly for next season, and therefore next season's sponsors should be seeing their name on next season's shirts for the Arsenal match?

Once again, the point is raised...will that many people want to bid for last season's shirt at the beginning of next season.

BTW Zeal. You made your point well in the Player Of The Season (now closed thread).

Bids were going at about £20 for the main shirt numbers (9, 10 etc), if I remember rightly.

However, that was £20 and the ability to wear the shirt before the start of next season, and with it the release of next season's shirt.

Bids were going at around £20.

When I say that, what I mean is that I was aware of bids of £20 being made for some of the shirts.

I don't know what price the bids are starting at. However, it is my most humble and modest opinion that a certain depreciation will be seen due to the auction being 3 or 4 months later than planned.

Sometimes it's good fun on here. at other times....

Zealster. According to that Chairman of the Supporters Club chap, this season's shirts were to be auctioned in the clubhouse after the Basingstoke game, as a bit of fun, and to raise further monies for the Supporters club, which, ultimately goes into The Club. He was hoping to raise £20 or so for the "favoured" shirts and less for the less fancied numbers. [Don't go there GHA.]

I have it on good authority that these particular shirts are showing the signs of a long season.

Now it won't happen tomorrow and I, for one, understand and appreciate that.

I agree with GHA that less money will be raised if the shirts are auctioned off at some event next season. But, to me it's no big deal. I imagine that Lifetime etc.'s sponsorship of the game involving the second best team in the Barclaycard Premiership is far more than might have been raised at an auction.

As far as the Baldock shirts are concerned, I don't care what happens to them but, for me' I sincerely hope that something does to the extent that t;'lads are never seen in them again.
