Slough Town 1 v 1 Thatcham Town

25th Aug 08 - Slough Town 1 vs 1 Thatcham Town

Report by Steve Berry

Late late goal rescues point for Thatcham

A late goal from Stefan Brown secured a point for Thatcham in a poor match. On a surface that was poor both teams failed to play any decent possession football and Slough took the lead in the 19th Minute, Laurence Brown scored from close range after the Thatcham defence failed to clear a deep cross.

Slough deserved their lead at that point as Thatcham struggled to get into the game, however the Slough keeper Jackson had to make a good save from Mario Nurse whose shot he saved with a good save down to his left.

In the second half Thatcham brought on Stefan Brown and went to three at theback as they tried for the equaliser, Jemel Johnson and Brown coming close but Jackson made two fantastic saves to keep them in the lead. At the other end Strudley had little to do. Tom Melledew also hit the bar with a fine strike.

Slough slowed down the game as they tried to see the game out but the Referee to be fair added the time on and it was deep into Injury time that Stefan Brown broke through on the left Slough thought Brown was offside, although Asker was in an offside position Brown ran past their right back to collect the ball and fired a hard shot across the keeper and into the right hand corner of the net.

1-1 was the final score

Decent attendance yesterday too, 278, the 3rd highest in the league behind Truro and Totton, although I believe this number does include season ticket holders who were not in attendance from what I have heard.

Looks like the stall publicity is doing the trick, it's a shame that its going at the end of this week. Went past it today and a lot of the fixture lists we left out on Friday have gone, and the posters and leaflets too (don't know if anyone was manning it over the weekend though). Also a shame that when we man it on Thursday and Friday we won't have a home game to promote because the next one is on the 20th of September!!

Berbatov and Barry i believe.

To go back up the thread to what Webby sais, i wa sin that conversation and it was pretty much agreed between us that Rids looks better at the back and Eamonn looked better in midfield and i think today showed us that.....

Match report should be on the site soon i did send it yesterday.
