Aaron Quain-quality full back ?

Bit of a contentious posting here to get some debate going.

I reckon Aaron is ok in his current position of left midfield-and will get steadily better.

frankly-i do not see him as a star in this position though.his lack of real pace and control are not quite enough to make it big time.

However, i have watched him back track on a few occasions, and win the ball with good tackles in our own box.he also seems to 'like his tackles'-and wins most.Has good pace for a full back-if not a forward, and i wonder whether Aaron could really make it big time as a left full back.

It would not happen overnight, and above all, he needs to want it and do it, but i can't help wondering whether his best chance of making it big time is in that role.

I know RT did similar with Peters last season-and to be fair-he may have got that one right;but i just have a feeling in my water, that Aaron could be really really good as a left full back. !!

I've always felt at ryman level, wing backs do not work as you end up with someone always out of position and not really good enough defending or attacking.Again, i just wonder whether Aaron could just be good enough to be a bona fide wing back and go on to be the next Ashley Cole.

What is their to lose to give it a try ?

There is a man at the club who should know the answer-what do you think Mr Yorath ?

I agree Paul. At this stage, I'd like to see him get forward more, and into striking positions when we go forward on the right.

The fact that he does track back and work hard is an additional asset but should be secondary to the main reason he's on the pitch. Having said that, he shuld be be first defence against marauding right backs.

He HAS been very very disappointing so far though out wide. I thought he would have come on from last season but so far he hasn't shown anything.Persistent selection I suppose will eventually see that form surface again.

I know certain people at the club see Aaron in the future as a forward. A fully fit and more importantly, CONFIDENT Aaron as pace.
