50/50 draw and Meat Raffle

Drummer

Recommended Posts

Too true. I am ashamed to say that I participate in neither. However in my defence, I have been attending since the bleak old TUFC days and have no idea where the 50/50 tickets are sold etc. However, this may be due to my tardiness (have missed 2 away goals already this season), but I will try harder if anyone can point me in the right direction. I do usually get accosted for the meat raffle, but being a veggie I await the 'turnip tombola' or similar before parting with my hard-earned.

Thanks ITH. The guy selling the 50/50 tickets is usually by the programme hut/turnstiles.

By the way, it's not me!

Your dead right Drummer and probably some of those bought more than 1 ticket which makes the total that bought even less.

The VOLUNTEERS who organise raffles, race nights and golf days deserve good support.

Dont forget the golf day-get your name down now.It gives you a good social day out and benefits your club.

The 50/50 ticket sellers are usually found to the left of the turnstiles and can easily be missed if you turn right straight into the ground, especially with just two turnstiles open. So maybe the sellers could relocate to the right to meet and greet spectators and sell the tickets,or the club could open the turnstiles nearer to the current sellers position and close the ones they currently use to channel folk past them.

By my calculations a maximum of 117 people bought tickets on satuday

Seemingly so Broadstairs Dave, and thanks for moving the subject up the list.

Let's see if the 50/50 and Meat Raffle sellers are bombarded with ticket requests tomorrow!

Well said Joseba, and I operate on a similar basis although not for the same reasons.

I have won on the meat raffle though, and the topside of beef was great.

Surely the criteria about whether to attend Race Nights, Quiz Nights, Golf Days etc. should be 'would I normally go to a similar function if it weren't attached to supporting the football club.
In my case, I wouldn't go to 'the pub next door' to go to a Race Night or Quiz Night and certainly wouldn't sign up for a works 'Golf Day'.
I'm not knocking the concepts, but they don't appeal to me in everyday life - so why should I support one for Margate FC?

the whole idea is to raise funds, and should firstly be looked at as; if I am prepared to donate to MFC (what ever the team) then it is nice to get something out of it. Then, it`s a good day, evenings entertainment so I will go. I would not generally go to a race night but I do go to MFCs because it`s a good night and it`s money well spent. And of course the food is great.

Sorry Jim, my mate Terry won first prize (leg of lamb) in the meat raffle and watched the Mighty Blues win too!!! So a winner on two fronts me thinks!!

Fair enough, although you might find that if you do go to one of the events, say a Quiz Night, you might actually like it.

However that is your prerogative - it might be an idea if you were to suggest to the good people who organise events such an event as you would support. It may be something they haven't previously considered and there may be many people who would support such an event.

The important thing is that we do not take for granted those events that are organised. It is our good fortune that there are people who are prepared to put their necks on the block and give us the opportunity to decide whether or not we wish to go. One day there may not be such people and we will not have the option to say whether or not we like this or that type of event because they will not exist.

Yes I noticed that as well - hopefully this week will be even better and the meat raffle will also benefit.
