UP THE GATE!!!

Just wanted to say on this grey day that I am still right behind Barry and the lads.

As has been analysed elsewhere, we were comprehensively outmanouvered and well beaten by a fairly mediocre side (no offence meant), who we had the better of to begin with. I thought pre-season that if we go a couple down with no sign of getting anything out of the game we could capitulate. I then rethought this after midweek and our terrific fightback.

However, after yesterday (sending off aside) there was a moment of clarity. The game midweek, we went in 2-0 and thus received a rocket and a double substitution that paid off.

Maybe yesterday, after our good 1st half showing and going in at 1-0 down, BA's message was a kind of 'more of the same and it'll come good', which is a fair assumption, I would think. Then after losing a man and another goal, it seems that heads dropped and no-one was able to offer any ideas on the pitch (This is also understandable, given the inexperience out there).

I therefore draw early thoughts from this that:

We have a potentially very good manager who has the ability to change things around and doesn't appear to be a man with very limited ideas, such as I felt Robin Trott was.

Our young team are as fragile as some suspected (although still plenty good enough to survive this league), and therfore need the experienced players to guide them.

If there were to be a negative point to be raised it is that somewhere at board level (perhaps) it should've been ensured that enough funds were available to secure the 3 or so experienced hands to guide the youngsters. But without knowing all the details, I feel I should assume that this were not possible - after all, will it help if I oppose that view? I'd end up being as crackers as Jacobs (geddit?)

Obvious statements, but my point is simply that on any count there is nothing to suggest that anything other than my full support should be given to BA & the team at every opportunity. Even if we go into December looking for the first 3 points (which won't be the case I'm sure).

So if any of the whingers that have been present at HDP this season (inc pre-season) are reading this, then p*** off and excercise your right to freedom of speech on a sunday evening at 10pm until midnight. We'll take saturday 3pm til 5pm. Done.

Up the 'gate!

I thought the first half was a decent performance. Plenty of corners, hit the post, and Wilson forced a great save from their keeper. Their goal was rather against the run of play. However, it all went Pete Tong after the red card.

Patience is the watchword, I think. Those who can remember Chris Kinnear's first season (six home defeats on the spin) might agree. Just imagine if we had a messageboard in those days...CK might have been sacked and history might have turned out very differently.
